  1. This is a tricky one but sorry yes the birds do have the right to be there more than us. I don’t think I would send my boat out to move the swans on. They have a very hard beak and massive feet and I can see them sinking my boat! I never fire small stones (illegal by the way). I fire out old boilies taking the swans\ducks away from the area I am fishing. But it does not always work and they win. So all I do is enjoy watching them as I would otherwise go mad lol. By the way the lake where I fish the swans are mad and do hiss and attack you, but apart from the beak and the feet can do you no harm….no they cant break your arms or any bones for that matter. If you ever do hook one then you are into a hell of a job to get it in. If you do, get your arms round it as soon as you can holding the back of the head. They go all soft when you do and pack up fighting. One point to remember and I know this to be true as I have seen carp enter a swim where the swans have just fed, the swans disturb the bottom.
  2. Tiscali have there own test page I think you will find it here http://speedcheck.ispconnect.co.uk/
  3. Ok well let’s give this a try. Along with a friend we are looking for 2 to 4 other carp anglers to go fishing in France next year say about April or May. The types of waters we like are small enclosed lakes with trees and bushes all around with lots of features and preferably offering food …..not large featureless lakes. The idea is we would have exclusive fishing of the lake. I do have a selection of waters already that look interesting. I realise this is some months away but I am testing the water so to speak. If you are interested please leave a message here along with an e-mail address. Please no time wasters so only reply if you are serious about this. We are based on the South Coast.
  4. I agree and this gives us guy who use bait boats a bad name. Anyone doing this on our lake will find they would receive the big boot from fishing the lake
  5. I do find some of this very strange. Should we all go back to the past, before bait runner reels were invented and bait alarms not to mention the hair rig? No lets go further back before fixed spool reels were invented see how far you cast then! I understand your meaning but forgive me I think it is old fashioned thinking. Fishing like life moves on. I really find it hard to believe guys would be happy to fish a swim knowing the chances of catching are remote because the fish are in an area you cannot cast to (for what ever reason). Go on tell me you have never thought if only I could get to that tree and cut them overhanging branches off. I along with other guys on the lake I fish make sure we do not disturb other anglers when we use our boats. In fact many times I have lent my boat to them or offered to take there baits out, indeed because a guy with a boat lent me his boat was the reason I purchased one! I have seen many guys casting to an area, or trying to, where the chances of not getting snagged up are 0 and they have never used a boat…….pushing there limits I think you would call it! (And I bet you have as well). In fact since using my boat I have had much fewer snags because I can place my bait where I want it and not in the weed\lily’s by a bad cast! (we all do them). I can cast, in fact I consider myself not bad at it either since I have been fishing for over 40 years! As I mentioned before, on our lake we have a number of swims that cannot be fished because of the trees. Us guys with boats can so we free up other swims for others to fish. Maybe some would say cut the trees down or remove the offending branches but that would spoil there beauty.
  6. Nope that can't be the reason as there are parts of the lake fishing is not allowed. In fact the owners have done this so the wild life and the fish have safe areas (from the public). But there again we are allowed boats! But I know of 2 lakes where boats are banned where there are a lot of areas fishing is impossible or not allowed.
  7. I expect this subject has been covered before, but I don’t think for a while. Why are bait boats banned on some waters and not on others? This year I purchased a pro-cat and it has without doubt increased my catch. It is very quiet so does not disturb others. I am able to fish easy under trees and bushes where before I had to be very careful with my casting so as not to get tangled on them so better for the wild life. (These trees are covered in rigs and line) A couple of the swims make it impossible to cast further than 30 feet because or overhead trees (and not used) but now I can take my rigs out using the boat and fish these swims. So why do some waters ban them?
  8. I have had my double burner for years (over 6) and have only ever used unleaded. I use it a lot as well and it still works as well as when I purchased it.
  9. Hi You are not far from Willow Park and Minards. Willow is an easy water carp to about 30lb (large lake). Minards is a private owned water. Great lake very quiet and nice carp. all english. Owned by a chap called Paul. Have his phone number if you are interested. Both are day ticket waters (night fishing). More than happy to meet you next year, spring for a session.
  10. Excellent Article. Personally I think is should be compulsory for all to carry an antiseptic lotion. (for fish lol)
  11. Hope you have a great time with lots of tight lines. It is as stocked as he says as I saw photos of the fish when he stocked the water......massive fish!
  12. To be truthful no, but all my mate have fished it, some many times. Sadly Danny and I had a disagreement so I never had the chance to fish his waters which I would have loved to have done….and still would. I fished with Danny many times including 2 trips to France (before he obtained his waters) and he is a nice guy and I know from reports his waters are a great place to fish. Hope that helps
  13. Well I can recomend a friends lakes his name is Danny and is a Carp fisherman like us. By the way I am not advertising or promoting his place just that you asked and I think you will enjoy. http://www.carpfishinginfrance.co.uk/index.html Let me know what you think
  14. Thanks for the advise. I use to live South London where about 12 of us were all into carp fishing. Problem down here is most of the guys fishing are already in pairs. No problem going to France as that is quite easy to get a group together. It's just it would be nice to find a local fishing mate to go fishing with.
  15. Hi Thanks for your reply and Worthing is just up the road. Like you I have put Carping on hold for the winter I can’t stand the cold so sorry pike fishing is a no no lol. I enjoy a bit of boat fishing (sea). Why the disillusion with carp fishing? I have this year been fishing a local lake in a park which holds Carp to over 30lb and they go like torpedoes. It’s not an easy lake but its not a hard water either but the main point is the guys who fish it are all good guys. (Season ticket is £45 or day ticket). I enjoy night fishing with a few beers and good food (I like to cook). lol this is sounding like a lonely hearts reply. I am not usually into public lakes, I like to get away from the public and noise but the above is a lovely lake with an island where I fish. Will send you the web site if you are interested. Would love to return to France next year a catch a few more monsters (my biggest is 41.6lb). Having said that I am not really into the size of the fish with me its just the pleasure of carp fishing.
  16. Now try it on Fly tackle it's a lot of fun!!!!!
  17. Hi people Hope this is the right place to post this, if not then sorry. I live on the South Coast, Hayling Island and I am looking for a mate to go Carp fishing with next year including maybe trips to France. I am married with 2 teenage girls so that should help you with my age lol. As I am self employed I can go in the week, in fact weekends can be a problem but dont let that stop you from replying. I have been Carp fishing for over 10 years but more than happy to help someone new to carp fishing. Have fun guys and tight lines
