  1. i was using a hair rigged bit of sweetcorn and got a bite so started reeling. when the fish reached the landing net i noticed that i hadnt actually hooked it but it had just held on to the sweetcorn. it was a nice looking roach aswell. as soon as it was in the net it spat the bait out and jumped out the net back into the water
  2. phone my rig is a cage feeder on the mainline which is then prevented by slidingto the hook by a split shot. then theres a double overhand loop at the end. i atach the hooklength to that. and yeah most of the time it comes back with no hook but sometimes it snaps where the hooklength is attached to the mainline. the hooklength are 7lb. from what people have said im beginning to think my knot tying abilities (or lack of them) are to blame. illl have practise them. thanks for the help
  3. thanks for the replies. not sure about the test curve of my rod but its a ron thompson g-force carp feeder is that helps. i set he clutch so fish can take line but not too quickly. and im not too sure how good my knots are but the line breaks just above the hook most of the time. hope this helps.
  4. depends how soon your thinking as in october i start training for the army for a year. cant wait but dont think ill be fishing much for that year
  5. thats been happening to a place near me aswell. in fact i was talking to a bailiff there a couple of weeks ago and he said he found two polish kids taking the fish out the water and putting them straight onto a portable barbeque! it shocking. by the way is sutton lawn a good place to fish? i dont live too far away and was thinking of tryin it.
  6. havent been fishing long so only got one rod. its a ron thompson g force carp feeder 13ft. a bloke in my local tackle shop gave it to me when i went to see how much it be to start fishing. he also gave me a reel but i cant remeber what it was. sadly have also lost the reel:(. but i have a diawa sweepfire now which i like:) i still owe tha man alot.
  7. hi ive decided to see i could catch some carp the other day as people say good they are. but i had problems when fighting them. im using 8lb line at a local fishery known for carp. ive hooked about 10 and only landed 1. is there some trick to fighting them without snapping the line or am i just not using strong enough line. i use 8lb as said before and size 10 hooks. my rod is a carp feeder as well so its supposed to be suited for carp. any help would be great .
  8. me and a mate recently biked from mansfield to skegness with our fishing stuff. we tie wrapped the rods, bank sticks and landing nets to the bike frames and the tackle box to the headset of the handle bars. the fishing stuff was fine for the whole journey but after 85 miles i felt about dead. you can get big tie wraps that reach round, you may have attach 2 together to get the tackle box on.
  9. hi i was fishing today and was struggling to hold a fish still to take a picture. some other bloke came and told me to put my thumb in its mouth and it instanley stopped struggling and started sucking on my thumb! just thought id share this with everyone:)
  10. wow didnt mean to start a big debate or anything. thanks for all the info tho, sure itll be really useful. went to the tackle dealer to get a disgorger and he said forceps were better so i bought both:). looking forward to finishing for perch again but next time ill be properly equipped. thanks again.
  11. not fished it myself but have heard the river meden is good for bream mate.
  12. hi, said id ask loads of questions so heres the first. ive only been fishing 2 months but have caught some perch at my local fishery (sherwood farm park), and have been hooking them quite deep. ive had to cut the several times as i cant unhook it. ive been using a size 16 or 18 hook. is there any way i can stop them hooking deep, and also general tips for catching perch would be helpful aswell. ive only ever caught small ones. thanks:) i also use a feeder rod as it was given to me so feeder tips would be best thanks.
