Hi Steven. I just came across your post, which you made almost 3 years ago! You may have moved since then, but on the off-chance that you are still interested in fishing on the River East Allen, I can confirm that the river is indeed teaming with wild brown trout and that a new angling club has recently been set up, having acquired a lease from the land-owners in March 2011. As at the time of posting this (Jan 2012), there are still a handful of places left to become a member. The cost for an annual full membership (over 17 years of age) is £45. Alternatively, you can buy a day permit from the Village Shoppe, Post Office or Golden Lion in Allendale Village Square.
