  1. I subscribe to Advanced carp fishing and Total carp, both very good magazines. Read enough and you will become as confused as I am re winter baits etc If you subscribe to Advanced CArp you get a load of decent bait free
  2. Something like this in the simplest form maybe. Shot holding the hook length to the bottom and the hook and bait floating above? Apologies for my art!!!! [ 17. February 2003, 04:41 PM: Message edited by: Neal ]
  3. I plan my first winter trip in a week or two, short session at my local lake. I have never used boilies since I started carp fishing again back in the summer. I plan to use some bright flourescent pop ups on this trip. What is the best rig for these? A hinged rig I guess, but what is the best practice to make such a rig. Any help diagrams etc would be most appreciated.
  4. Yep Gaffer, cheers matey, I found the code to insert the pic but couldnt find where to upload it from. [ 03. February 2003, 04:08 PM: Message edited by: Neal ]
  5. Hi all, I have just purchased a new spring loaded rig stick made by MCF. Its a neat gadget that keeps all of your hook lengths nice and straight and taunt. There is room for plenty of rigs, about 15 in all and caters for all sizes. Cost is about £17.00 depending where you get it from and I saw it advertised in Advanced Carp fishing last month. I would give this the thumbs up!! [ 03. February 2003, 03:53 PM: Message edited by: Neal ]
  6. Thanx guys, I reckon for thr dosh its the best around, I do go a lot on reviews, which may be a good or bad thing.
  7. Right tis time I got myself a new decent bivvie. There are loads out there and the one that has caught my eye is the Armadillo Tracker Big Z single man. The reviews are good and its easy to erect and dismantle. Any views on my choice? Ta  [ 01. February 2003, 03:32 PM: Message edited by: Neal ]
  8. Hi peeps, a happy new year to all the carp anglers out there! Havent been around due to work and domestic commitments, havent even wet a line since the end of September :-( Hows the fishing going anyway???? Cheers Neal
  9. Thats OK if u fish the water regularly and know the fish, but if you do not then you have no idea about what you have caught.
  10. Have there been any instances that you know of when carp have been 'tagged' before release? Whenever I have gone 'big game' fishing in Africa, all fish are tagged before release. This may be useful on very big waters to see where the carp go at certain times if you read the tag that has been attached previously. Just an idea, shall I go get my rivet gun now? Only kidding. It can be done I think without no harm to the fish whatsoever, <he says>. [ 23. September 2002, 04:16 PM: Message edited by: Neal ]
  11. Before you became a member, would it hvae been a good idea to find out what is in the lake first? Sorry, just a thought, research can save you lots of blank trips, especially if there is no carp in the water!
  12. Sorry guyz, couldnt resist it!
  13. Thanx Glenner, will give it a go next time I put new line on, it seems to settle down after a few casts so I will see how it goes.

  16. Gaffer your a star, cheers mate, it all makes sense now and I can see when and when not to use them. But 6 feet of backlead jeez cant imagine that!! I would be spending all the time cliping it on and by the time I had it on it would eb time to pack up, even on a 3 day session
  17. Again a nice article, so graphical you would think you were there (he wishes )
  18. Well done Chris, so are you hooked yet, wanna go carp fishing every spare minute you have?
  19. Chhers at the mo I am using the ordinary Raptor hooks, I will get some stiff rig ones. Thanx for the help!
  20. Luncheon meat is used a lot on my local fishery. I have used it with sicess floating for carp but alas on the hair its been a disaster. It appears to break up on impact with the water sometimes and if not I am not very confident that its still on the hair afterwards. Any tips apart from the useual twig boilie stop?
  21. Gaffer mate, can you post some piccies or diagrams for me. Cheers.
  22. Ok, I have cracked it I think! I followed a recepie on http://www.boilie.co.uk. Used two eggs and trout pellet powder. Wasnt hard at all, now I have a ball of putty like paste in the fridge ready for tomorrow. I have also invested in the KORUM paste springs. They are like tiny method feeders, whci you mould the paste around, good idea me thinks. Also I got some tiny little rubber balls with a rubber shank. You pierce the rubber shank with the hook and slide it up the shank of the hook, you them mould the paste around the ball and trim off any excess shank thats showing. I will give them both a try. A interesting article in the Angling Times thgis week about fizzy paste!? Get a flourescent pop up base mix and just mix it with lemonade!!!!! Form a stiff paste and away you go. I might even try this in the future, well anything for a laugh. The article did say it was dynamite stuff though as it floats on the surface and fizzes.
  23. Cheers Nathan, this is really doing my head in, good job I have a 1000 mts of both eh.
