  1. thanks for the info, hopefully will get out and give it a go soon
  2. Briliant, cheers John, a plan is starting to form, just need to find somewhere to try it out now!
  3. thanks for the tips, to be honest I was thinking more of some small-ish streams by the coast, so I could just use feeder gear, in North Somerset there are several such streams. Many of them have a tidal flap/sluice at the end so arn't too badly afffected by the tides
  4. Many thanks for your reply and I'll have a look on world sea fishing, when the weather warms up a bit, I'll let you know how I get on
  5. Hi all, I'm a coarse angler and have never sea fished (apart from a couple of trips after mullet with coarse gear) but I'm interested in catching new species and would really like to have a go for flounder using coarse gear but have no idea how to go about it. I know quite a few flounders get caught by accident in matches at places like Cardiff docks etc and would like to have a go for them. I was thinking of targetting some coastal streams using a maggot feeder set up, any tips greatfully received
  6. Blimey, only just found this thread, I feel more like the 'Scarlet Pimpernel' than just Redtail! I've been an angler for 33 years and although I mainly match fish I also enjoy trying for different species and in the last few years have started fishing abroad for species exotic, weird and wonderful. I started blogging in 2006 because I've always enjoyed reading about other peoples fishing trips (I used to love the diary style features in the Angling Mags by Richard Wade, Ron Lees and more recently Lee Kerry) and thought people might like reading about my fishing trips. I write about my trips whether I have good, bad or just plain terrible days. In the early days I had really good feedback from my local fishing clubs who now use the blog as a vehicle for their match results. More recently I thought I'd try to spread the word a bit and have joined some angling forums, I have had some fantastic feedback along with the odd negative comment. I always have a good look through the latest posts but sometimes the sheer amount of new content is frightening but if anything stands out, I will comment on it. I must admit I felt a little intimidated when Newt threatened to eject me from the forum if I continued to just promote my blog and not contribute so I will do my best to be a bit more active from now on sorry if my posts to date have hacked people off
  7. Hi, glad you like the reports although I seem to be getting some grief from Newt for posting them!
  8. Welcome to the forum, I enjoy fishing rivers too but most of my fishing is done in the South West so I can't really help on that front
