I have been fishing for a while now but new to pike fishing, but yeah i appreciate what you're are saying and i have been extremely conscious for the safety of the pike whilst fishing them. i use semi barbed treble traces putting the barbed hook through my dead bait. Using 15lb or 18lb breaking strain with anything between a 1oz or 3oz weight depending on the size of my bait.

Thanks Phil. You do make a fair point i suppose. Thought i would ask anyway, wasn't as if i was expecting exact co-ordinates haha. Yeah me and lads are planning a wee lomond trip soon so looking forward to that. Right now im just looking for any excuse to be able to go and have a rod in the water
