  1. Hello there, i would be very grateful for any info Cheers Have a good un
  2. Hello again You'll enjoy Candy Corner, the only thing is you've got to land every fish even if it's a 1oz roach. Just go for the big ones. A pellet pump is a quick way of making hard, floating pellets sink by sucking the air out of the pellets, saves soaking them overnight. When, if you get the pellets from the CC ask them to prepare them for you and leave them in a bit of water while you fish. Hope you have a good day, oh just one thing i think they have a weekly match on a Wednesday (don't quote me on that) but you can still get in. Just found a number if interested for CC 01302 775062 Toodaloo
  3. Cheers, mines a Wards Glad to see the the ones in charge have dropped the "c" i was begining to feel a bit bad. Chin up Chaps Did everyone have a good weekend angling? Have a good un
  4. Candy Corner Fishery has a good set-up They provide buckets behind every five or so pegs for anglers to dump their unwanted bait, quite a sensible idea.
  5. This takes the biscuit, the post was written in light hearted humour. This is all starting to get to seriuos. It was a joke. What's with all this antis stuff, chill out. I agree fishing is fishing but if you let the "antis" if thats what you call em spoil your fun, there's no point in taking part. It was only a tongue in cheak post just to say i prefer fishing on rivers. What i wrote wasn't meant to fuel the debate on banning fishing. I enjoy running a local angling club you should hear what a few of them have to say, some people do take things to serious. Never mind, posting is getting very difficult without getting blamed for the downfall of angling. Hope everyone who fished today had a good days fishing wherever you went.
  6. Having fished the River Soar in a match this Saturday i must say it was good to be stood beside a river, waders on trotting a stick float down a steady flow. What more could you want. Even though the winning weight was just under three pounds, i enjoyed my 20 - 30 fish for 2lb 6oz much more than turning up parking behind where you fish, dropping you're line in what looks like our local swimming bath (without the lanes)and haulind pale, sad looking fish out, how natural is that. I can only see the good thing about these venues is the easy accesibility for the unfortunate less mobile people who enjoy the sport. Thumbs up for that My friend in the next peg made me laugh loosing two barbel on the whip (gudgeon, gudgeon gudgeon, gudgeon, gudgeon, barbel, snap) and at the very end "fish on, snap, fish off" he cried. But he still managed to win. RIVERS, great stuff. Also cheers to the Long Eaton Victoria Angling Society for supplying such excellent correspondence for the match and the bailiff who was most helpfull. Have a good un GW
  7. Eddie, sir As freedom of speach i also have a right to express my views as along with everybody else so try and add to the topic with original, factual posts, thanks. Chevin, i realised my first post on the subject may offend, upset some people and realised the error of my ways and added another, watered down post if you would like to read that instead. I did think this post would of been deleted. Sorry for upsetting anyone.
  8. All these people babbling on about how cultures are different and leave RH alone, did any of these people actually see the program in question. I think not or else you're blinkered views would change and if you did, shame on you. Cheers GW
  9. yep, fished it a few times recently. Found it difficult to actually keep the fish on once hooked which was the same for a few others. One thing, you've got you use the pellets provided by the fishery, they do work well but try and get hold of a vacuum pump to turn the pellets into sinkers if you let the fishery do it they will float after about an hour (they pour boiling water on them) Fishing in the margins will pick up the bigger fish, alternate between pellet and corn. Take some maggots just in case the carp aren't feeding, you'll catch stacks of hyde, roach etc. There are three ponds and think this is the same for all three. I friend fished there last week but struggled so definately take some smaller baits, even chopped worm. Hope this is some sort of help Have a good one GW
  10. Just switched on to see him playing a fish, then trying to be clever tried to catch another one at the same time with a rod in each hand. Due to this he left the first fish half in, half out of the water. This resulted in the fish having it's back quarter ripped to shreds by other fish. This was bad enough but in the next shot he decided to drop the 3/4 fish back in the water still alive for the other fish to carry on ripping away at it's what was once it's tail. This is a bad advert for fishing let alone for the poor fish involved. Can we start a BAN REX HUNT group up Cheers GW
  11. Just for you it means clot Have a good un and good night GW

  14. Hello there There is a place called Beeston Marina, here you can park behind where you fish or a slight walk you can fish the Boots Factory pegs, all are ok. You can also fish the Trent @ Beeston Weir, drive down the canal rd until the road stops and walk across the bridge over the canal. Just follow the signs for Beeston Marina Hope this helps GW
  15. After a recent fishing match where quite a few skimmers were caught i left my nets in the normal place down in the cellar. After returning from a night out the whole house stank. There's only one thing for it (i thought) i'll leave my nets outside, round the back of the house. The following morning as i went to retrieve the nets, to my astonishment they'd been nicked, someone actually nicked some sweaty nets, how sad. Now it's going to cost around £70.00 to replace the keepnet, landing net and club weighing sling - GREAT. All you anglers out there, beware even the sweaty, stinky nets are a target. Cheers, have a good un GW
