  1. Steve, Have you tried any of the lures from Lucky Craft? They have a wide selection of baits that are perfect for Pike fishing as well as bass and other species. There is one reason why they are one of my sponsors and thats because their baits work. Prior to signing with Lucky Craft I earned the nickname Lucky, Lucky, Lucky because of the number of good tournament finishes I had using Lucky Craft Lures. www.luckycraft.com A solution to your problem of suspending baits sinking when using wire leaders (traces) is this. Get a Floating bait and a product called sticky weight. Fill up your sink or a bucket with water. Attach your wire leader to the lure. Attach a small amount of sticky weight to the area around where the hook attaches to the bottom of the bait. Increase or decrease the amount of sticky weight until you can get the lure to suspend under the water. This will give you a bait that suspends even with the weight of a wire leader(trace). Hope this works for you. If you need me to add more to this let me know. JT Bagwell http://www.qcbassfishing.8k.com

  6. Heck, I don't know how I got it to say home because I typed in QC BASS FISHING. JT Bagwell
  7. Newt, When you can see the bass on the beds you need something that you can keep in the strike zone for a long period of time. The key is that whatever bait you use has to have movement. If you are using a jig or a Texas rigged worm, after you move it a couple times it is no longer in the strike zone. However, by using a drop shot you can't keep the bait in the strike zone as long as you want all the while having constant movement. I don't know if I made up this technique but, I don't know anyone else that does it. Of course I have never asked either. JT Bagwell http://www.qcbassfishing.8k.com
  8. Newt, Did I do it right? Thanks JT Bagwell
  9. Newt, Thank You that is a fine follow up too my post. Just to let you know I do sometimes fish a drop shot on baitcasting equipement on heavy line. Not often though, mostly during the spawn when I am sight fishing. JT Bagwell [ 09. December 2002, 02:45 AM: Message edited by: Jeremiah T. Bagwell ]
  10. Ok Thanks Newt, I will get on it when I have chance. JT Bagwell
  11. You guys are using these baits for pike right? I cant think of anything else that will those big baits. The soft plastics I was mainly inquiring about were the ones used for smaller fish. Not the big toothy monsters. I didn't know if you guys used stuff like 7" plastic worms, 3" twister tails or 6" lizards and stuff like that. JT Bagwell
  12. Hmmm, I am not familiar with that brand of lure. Is there a website where I can see what they look like? JT Bagwell
  13. Hello everyone, I would like to know the most popular soft plastic lure design used in the UK. Example - Worms, lizards, crawfish, etc. About how much do these baits cost in US dollars? How many come per package? JT Bagwell http://www.qcbassfishing.8k.com
  14. I have never paid attention to that before. Maybe I should look into changing it. I am not a big website guy so I really dont know where to start. My site is kind of a fill in the blank deal. Thanks JT Bagwell http://www.qcbassfishing.8k.com
  15. Newt, What are you talking about? What doesnt have a title? JT Bagwell
  16. Thanks, I will have to try that later JT Bagwell
  17. Newt, That is very interesting. I never really thought much about the differences between the US and everywhere else but, it is clear the differences are many. JT Bagwell
  18. Peter, It seems you have seen the Drop Shot rig before. The only difference between what you described is the method in which it is fished. It is an option to drag the weight along the bottom keeping the slightly above the bottom. However when I fish a Drop Shot rig it has been more effective for me to keep the weight in one spot and just shaking the slack line causing the lure to move up and down in an erratic fashion. After a few shakes of the lure I will usually hop the weight a foot or two and repeat the shaking action. This technique is very effective when using smaller lures in highly pressured waters. Waters that get a lot of fishing activity or pressure related to weather conditions such as tides and cold water. JT Bagwell
  19. Fred, On any given day I check about a dozen fishing websites. Most of them are ones that I write for. In addition to AN, all the rest are U.S. Bass fishing websites. The amount of knowledge being shared via the internet is just beyond compare. I can post a question and literally within a matter of minutes I can have 20 different opinions. The internet fishing industry is great and will continue to grow. JT Bagwell
  20. In the future the address of my homepage may get changed. This is due to a new sponsorship agreement that I have been working on for a while. If this takes place I will be sure to let everyone know the new web address. Hopefully the new site is bigger and better. JT Bagwell
  21. A drop shot rig typically consists of a small weight tied about 1-2 feet below the hook on light line. It is usually thrown with spinning tackle. When fishing the drop shot you have the ability to cast out and keep your lure in one area while still having the lure move. With the weight below the hook you can simply twitch your rod tip and it will cause the lure to have an erratic lifelike motion while practically staying in the same place. This is a very slow and extremely productive method we use for catching bass but, I am sure that you guys can use it to catch the fish you have in the UK. If you have any more questions let me know and I can try to find a diagram showing exactly what a Drop shot rig looks like. JT Bagwell
  22. For those of you that might be interested here is a link to my home page. It is still being worked on but you can get an idea of what it will look like. http://www.qcbassfishing.8k.com Please sign the guest book. Thanks JT Bagwell
  23. I was just wondering if you anglers in the UK practice catch and release or do you keep all the fish you catch? JT Bagwell
  24. One of the best producing baits for the winter months is the Jig and Pig. If I knew how to post a picture in this message I would show you what one looks like in case you havent seen one. The bait is very versatile and is great for catching Large Bass. I also like to slow roll a spinnerbait with double colorado blades. The colorado blades produce more sound in the water but dont offer as much flash as the willow blades. JT Bagwell
  25. Do you guys do any drop shot fishing in the UK? It is a method of finesse fishing with small soft plastics that is becoming very popular in the states. JT Bagwell
