  1. Thanks for the replies. Norrie. I am glad you enjoyed yor holiday in Corfu. You really have got to plan your next visit during October and get stuck into the Dorado! I have checked out all the search results etc and still can not find a retailer selling these reels. They were great value for money and I need to 'stock up'. Over the years most of them have been lost/stolen or broken beyond repair. Ted Wooller.
  2. A few years ago I bought some reconditioned Penn reels. I am not able to find an outlet for them now. Are they still available? Where can I get hold of them? Any information welcom. Ted Wooller. corfu-fishing.com {Admin note 2009: plenty of Penn reels for sale - click here}
  3. Norrie. There is not a lot being caught from the boats in May. I believe that you can get out on a charter fishing boat, try looking in the travel agents in Sidari or Kassiopi, both on the north coast but I would go for fishing from the shore amongst the rocks etc.. The north east coast of the island (south from Kassiopi) is well worth looking at from the sea. You can hire small boats up to 30 hp. from kassiopi or some of the other bays south. Ted Wooller.
  4. Norrie. I have lived on Corfu for seven years so I know a little about the local fishing. The prime time here is Sept. Oct. and November when the Dorado arrive. During May you could try for Saddled Bream known locally as Melanouri. The are very shy fish and will be spooked by heavy line, weights etc. You will need to fish just off the bottom so a sliding float with around .018mm line, using small pieces of fresh sardine fillet as bait. They reach up to around 500 - 750 grms and are good to eat on the BBQ. Take a look at my site for Dorado fishing, http://www.corfu-fishing.com Ted Wooller.
  5. Anybody have tips on the best way to get ground bait down to about 40 meters. I have tried mesh bags but the current empties them in about 10 minutes. I am fishing for several species of Bream (off Corfu) in the Ionian Sea. The locals don't use it but it must be beneficial. Ted. Wooller
