The country would ,the pathetic self obsessed idiots born since wont .

I expect all those expensive solar panels covered in 4 feet of snow  would be very useful.Unfortunately we are being forced to put all our eggs in one basket if hydrogen doesnt replace natural gas ,the infrastructure is there use it! We had oil fired heating in the last house in a 1963 scenario the tanker wouldnt get to it just as those with calor gas heating wont. You need open fires as back up you can burn the furniture to stay warm

I was 10 in 1963 it was as cold inside as outside ,you got dressed in bed (you wernt allowed to sleep in your clothes) no heating bar the gas cooker back then if of course mum had a shilling for the meter.Your school coat was a second blanket 😳

If kids lived like that now social services would be knocking but it was normal back then ,people think they are poor if they can only afford a 50" telly nowadays try going hungry for a couple of days or being given a bit of paper with an address on it to go to  after school when your parents did a moonlight flit lol

The good thing back then was few could afford cars so public transport was popular and the main rods were cleared ,theres so many cars now the country stops if a snowflake falls and health and safety steps in stopping it being cleared incase some idiot gets a chill .In Edinburgh even the pavements were cleared now little is because theres to many chiefs and no indians that do it!

Where is the hydrogen going to come from? If you are going to say electrolysis of water then it takes the same amount of electricity to split water in to hydrogen and oxygen as it produces when recombined by burning the hydrogen. You may as well just use electric.

I was thinking more about just in time supply chains rather than self obsessed idiots.

Meanwhile, DVLA is sitting on 40,000 unprocessed HGV test applications, and there are more than 70,000 qualified and documented UK drivers who have moved on to other jobs with better pay and working conditions.

This is clearly a manufactured crisis.

Meanwhile up to 800 butchers will be given temporary visas to work in the UK.

I would have thought that amongst the 17.4 million who were whinging about people who speak a different language than they would be queueing up for the jobs.

I did a search on indeed and there were 81 jobs in the UK for abattoir workers, 28 on cv-library and ONE on Find a Job the DWPs on Job Searching site.

Somebody is having a laugh. people say that it is because the jobs don't pay enough.

What would the going rat be for killing pigs or standing all day with you hand up chicken jacksies all day?

As for lorry drivers the IR35 changes have a lot to do with it according to my trucker chums. One of them makes more money working 9-5 in Screwfix and the Europeans have voted with their feet.

Don't forget that a HGV driver in Germany gets an average of 42.447 € per hour. In Denmark it is DKK 164.96 per hour and that includes the driver of ANY truck of ANY nationality being driven inside Denmark. These countries have driver shortages too but they EU has a bigger pool of drivers to chose from.

This will get your knickers in a twist. In Norway a trucker gets €47,690 a year for a 7.5 hour 5 day a week job and they get Volvo and Scania trucks to play with. I know that the cost of living is higher in Norway than the UK but I can't see British companies paying truck drivers paying anything like that real soon now.

I have no doubt the lady knows her cricket, but she played womens cricket, not mens and until the game is mixed sex she knows nothing about facing a 90mph fast bowler,or catching a ball off of one...

The fastest woman bowler, Lea Tahuhu has been clocked at just short of 80MPH. Do you think copping one of them would be fun? This site is turning into fuddy duddy central.

  4. People blame the EU for driving down lorry drivers wages. The "government" can set any minimum wage it likes. Truckers in Denmark are on about 22 Euros an hour. Denmark is in the EU.

Strange to me that the 17.4 million that were whinging about Johnny Furriner nicking their jobs are not queuing up to gut chickens and turkeys for less than a tenner an hour, or living in a stinking caravan on a farm to harvest fruit and vegetables for a pittance.

Her 5 minutes of fame ,another employee will take her place shortly probably for less pay and longer hours, take your pick at the border

A better and more newsworthy end would have been killing those that abuse her ,they won't re-offend but i gues they will be swiftly replaced

I have done the same thing myself but not in quite a so dramatic fashion. It is not the first time I walked off a ship or took one look and did not walk up they gangway in the first place.
