  4. Just got home from a wonderful trip down memory lane, went to St Ives in Cambridgeshire after approx 20 years, walked along the river Great ouse at the back of the town/market area day dreaming it was after the 16 th June what a fabulous place, then went off to an old favourite piking place Holywell where I used to go when I was single had a pint and a pub lunch at the ferry boat Inn, no sign of the ferry anymore but had a chat with an elderly gentleman who used to work with Tom Arnott the guy that we used to hire the fishing punt to us, sadly he died about 9 years ago and there are no punts to be seen anymore, does anyone have memories of this place? or even still fishes there in season it looks much the same as the old days.

  6. I stayed at Grassmere in October for 2 days, had to get a permit to fish from the local post office and this allowed me to fish on Grassmere Lake, got a boat out from the local guy for 5 hours fishing , I was piking using lures, as soon as the boat left the jetty it rained for five hours solid and did'nt get a take, but the scenery was great.

  9. Thanks Peter & Nugg I stayed at Wroxham early March 2002 and found that the Pike Fishing was Very Good in the boatyards Best fish at 14lb, last year same time at Horning Ferry Marina also exellent, but due to building work in Horning I can't fish the Boatyards this year, although our cottage was on the main river at Horning the fishing was dire, only fish a small Jack of about 2lbs, not one silver fish, popped into Lathams this Monday and manager told me that a 30lb Pike was caught in the boatyard 4 weeks ago, thanks again
