  1. check this out ; it would appear to be slow going i hope he has a gameboy http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/cornwal...all/3148023.stm
  2. you are most definetly not an anti ; i go fishing with my nephews and the first thing i instill in them is respect for what you catch . it is really depressing to hear of people who openly brag about how many they caught and unless they have access to a freezer they must chuck out loads that go soft after freezing . could the manufactuers limit the amount of hooks they put on feathers ? . .
  3. plus using wet hands will that minimise damage i also use barbless hooks and try to unhook them at the waters edge ? is there also some sort of primitive instinct where people do seem to go into mackerel frenzy when they just cant seem to catch enough even though they have caught loads .
  4. being a regular fisherman on the chesil it amazes me the lack of respect that is given to the mackerel . it is a superb fighting fish that when caught on the right gear gives a tremendous fight for its size , not only do people catch them on gear disproportinate to size ; they also seem to keep them irrespective of size.. having filled in the govt questionare on the future of fishing ; do you think its about time we had some sort of voluntary code for catch qoutas from the shore . after all they are not an endless commodity . if this was bass being caught like this there would be uproar. i realise people will say that trawlers etc take more than there fair share but it still doesnt explain why us rod n line anglers cant set an example .
  5. quote: there is an article in august edition of sea angler; allthough it doesnt mention how to hook them . i will go through all my back editions as i am certain that there is more in depth info available . i am shortly fish ing portland bill which is very similar to where you fish so will contact you when found .
  6. right then a search for proof of great whites set sail today ; unfortunate ly no police commisioner was on board or a skipper who knew naughty nautical songs check out http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/cornwal...all/3127305.stm

hi i have ordered several times and had no problems ; orders generally take over a week possibly longer . they do come from germany . i have yet to have faulty merchandise so i dont know what they are like on that . i would order online as i had problems when i phoned through.
  9. no i never said i was afraid ; i think that its fantastic that hopefully such a fish(es) exist in these over fished waters . yes i had noted that there has been a particulary bad pollution problem ; but if i read it correctly there is a major crack in the line which is difficult to repair . so if there was no crack raw sewage would still be going out just alot further out .; people dont realise there is a problem unless you physically see or smell it. however good point and you can see why there are groups like surfers against sewage who do alot of work highlighting it .us anglers could probably take a leaf out of there books [ 03. 11. i am certain that i saw a report that a specially commisioned boat is on the search for any existance of great whites in cornwall ; please can anyone confirm it . either that or my wife is spiking my breakfast cereals with hallucagenic drugs and i imagined  the whole thing . if i did is it for scientific research or is it to catch (and hopefully release ) it on rod and line .
  12. hi third time of trying too heavy handed if you check www.deepsea.co.uk you can access weymouth charter boats if you check search angling spaces hopefully one of the skippers will have a vacancy some of the boats have tackle hire but you will have to ask etc, i recently had my first boat trip on :one for his knob; a boat out of weymouth it was a very enjoyable experience (edit note: hembo - I got rid of your two false starts. It's an easy enough mistake to make. If you ever want to, you can edit your own posts later by clicking on the "edit" icon that is right next to the "quote" one you hit the first couple of times. 13. im afraid to say that the situaton will only get worse ; wholesale destruction of the of whole underwater eco system is going on ; but since it cant be seen they (commercial netters gill netters etc )willget away with it . i personally would put a total ban on commercial fishing and get them to concentrate on the leisure fishing as it is proven to be benifical to tourism and local trade. because in a few years time there will be no fish to catch on rod and line.if commercial fishing is to carry on in its present form
