  1. I could not agree with you more! Probably the best point I have seen made in these discussions here on AN. Vidar
  2. The situations described in Neil Leaver’s letter are in line with what I personally would have expected, and comes as no surprise. Look here all of you, ACA is organised as a limited company and must as such forward their audited accounts to Companies House every year. Failure to do so results in fines and can ultimately lead to the “company” being dissolved. In my personal opinion it is not a long-term viable solution trying to improve ACA's image, among current and potential new members, simply by putting someone who is already out the door in a bad light. However, if the current ACA leadership wants to use that particular line of attack they should do so without serving their members sheer nonsense, as they did in the Chairman’s letter Unfortunately, I suspect we have not seen the end of this, and that ACA committee chairman’s letter easily can end up in the courts. 3. Not many people would say no to the salary that was offered them, so when it comes to it I suppose many of us can be described as greedy Anyhow, it is all water under the bridge now and let us just hope that ACA soon are getting back at doing what they appear to do well, namely fighting polluters of British water ways Vidar
  4. This copper spoon is not a half bad alternative: http://www.sovereignsuperbaits.co.uk/Lures...dit_spoons.html Vidar Thomassen
  5. I have a few tackle items that finds themselves surplus to requirement, and I thought maybe some of you guys would be interested. 1) Shimano Japan edition Scorpion 1501 SF (left-hand wind) in Ex++ (as new) condition, used only twice after I bought it.The reel comes complete with paper work, spanner, oil and spooled with unused 30Ib Power Pro, all nicely fitted into a padded reel bag. The Shimano Scorpion is an absolute Gem of a reel and the only reason I want to part with it is because I have decided to buy a stupidly expensive Japan edition, custom made Daiwa TD-Z. http://www.japantackle.com/Shimano_Scorpion_1500.htm Reel price: £80.00 + actual shipping cost 2) Bass Pro 6' 6" (3/8 to 1oz lure weight) one piece IM6 Baitcaster, never used and with the backbone to throw lures up to 35-40 grams. I purchased two of these rods from Lure Mania not to long ago, one for me and one for my girlfriend, but she never has got into using Baitcaster's so now it is only gathering dust. I have used my rod many times to throw about Crankbaits and rubbers up to Mag Grub size, and I am well pleased with it. http://www.luremania.co.uk/pages/rods.htm Rod price: £20.00 + actual shipping cost Combo price for reel and rod: £95.00 + actual shipping cost Vidar Thomassen
  6. Yes you are right, it was a soft plastic lure shaped in such a way that it had the ability to go backwards. Vidar Thomassen
  7. No, not to many beers, you are only trying to read Norwegian Mind you, with Norwegian beer prices, to many is an unfamiliar consept. Sorry for the language, but the story was to good to miss
  8. Have a look at this, what an amazing fish to catch on a small Yo-Zuri plug when trolling for Sea trout. It took more than an hour to land the fish. It is not entirely uncommon to catch Halibut on rod and line, but most are caught on large Shads or huge Nowegian Pirks. www.villmarksinfo.no/fiske/nyhetsar...veite240504.htm I have caught a 45Ib Halibut on rod and line and initially I thought I been snagged on the bottom, as they put up an incredible fight. The Halibut was caught in the Saltstraumen area in Norway, the strongest tidal maelstrom in the world and one of the best marks in the world for catching Cod, Coalfish, Cat fish/Wolf fish, Haddock and Halibut. In fact, the World Record Coal fish / Saithe has been caught in Saltstraumen, and currently stands at more than 54Ib. home.c2i.net/rune.dahl/saltstraumen...tml#anchor69661 Vidar Thomassen
  9. You should have every chance of catching some huge cod upto 40 - 50Ib if you are going where I think you are. Personally, I'm born and raised in the stunning Lofoten/Vesteralen group of islands, another North Norwegian area with some amazing sea and inland fishing. Vidar Thomassen
  10. You can buy an almost identical version to the Huntsman net at The Lureshack, substansially cheaper. I have not tried out the Masterline net myself, but I know that Peter Waller thinks highly of it and finds it excellent value for money. Vidar Thomassen
  11. Good idea Fenboy. I think it is a good idea to start a new thread, a correct headline should make it easier for other people to join in. Vidar
  12. I am just fine Peter. What I don't understand is how someone can get away with charging up to 30-40% more than the competition. But, I suppose the free market powers in the end will take care of non competetive companies. Vidar
  13. It looks like The Friendly Fisherman finally has been able to put together a website. As of yet, only their lure range are available, but apparently lots of other item's are soon to follow. http://www.thefriendlyfisherman.co.uk/ The lure section contains Cobb lures, that are not obtained from other retailers or mail-order shops, here in Britain. However, a word of caution, the prices stated on the website are mind bobbling  , they are trying to charge £19.99 for Burt's or £17.99 for Shallow & Deep Invader's. That's substantially more expensive, than purchased from Dave Lumb or The Lure Shack. It's even more expensive than Harris Angling  . Vidar Thomassen
  14. I fail to see how that can be, considering the article says. Quote: "This capture still hasn't sunk in because it was the first time I'd fished the drain for about 18 years" Nige told AT.
