thanks every one i have decided to have it profechionly done as i dont think i have the time or the confidence to do it myself i just fear i would end up with noting but a sticky horrid pole with no eyes on it. if any thing i learnt my lesson next time its gonna be less rods for the trip and much more packing mind you it was not all my fault i did use a 115mm wide piece of down pipe that the Gambia air port managed to drop on its end and shatter half the way up luckily we had taken some good old duck tape with us 4 the journey back.

i have got a conoflex rod and i have noticed that the whipping cotten on the eyes is getting a bit darker in colour in a small patch on most of the eyes.I think that this has been due to taking it on hoiday and having it thrown about in the bagage handling stage (partly my fault for insufficient packing in the tube), basically should i be worrying about getting the whippings fixed? if so is it a specalist job? and who do u suggest?

i went shore fishing in Brittany? it was rubbish only had a couple of mackeral

i am using 18lb main line what (lb) should i use for shockleader i have 50lb or 20lb im thinking 20

i have recently bought a Abu EON 5600sw off of ebay and am unsure whether or not the reel is working properly as when I reel in the levelwind lays the line on evenly across the spool BUT: when I cast out however the levelwind does not move form side to side inline with the line as it spools out off of the reel should this happen or not?

I have an Abu Garcia ambassadeur 7000 c3 multiplier real. And am wondering if it will take the strain when fishing in Gambia for these hard fighting fish such as Spanish mackerel, Barracuda, and Jack Trevalle. Should I buy something with a bit more mussel? and the same goes for the rod which is a conoflex phantom 45 12ft 2 secthion

I am going to Gambia on a fishing holiday and I need a good book I can take with me which I can use to identify the different species of fish I am catching so I know if they are poisonous or if they are the best tasting fish in Africa or more importantly is it goanna turn round and bite me and land me in a great deal of trouble. If any one knows of such book or book's please point me it the right direction.

I have an Ed schliffke's rock hopper bass plugger which is an 11' spinning rod and planning on taking it along with me when I go to Gambia but no longer have a reel for it and am unsure what make or model will be best for both Gambia and good old bass spinning back in England
