  1. I have heard that the baa are not known for keeping access to there waters in the best of condition but hey for £26 you cant really complain for the amount of water to go at. I must talk 'er in doors' in to going for a nice picnic down by some pools I know. maybe I might just slip the spinning gear in the boot . cheers guys ant
  2. that does anoy me, I've been a match angler for about 10 years or so and have often been plagued by a pike on the river teme while feeder fishing but i would never consider killing one. Which of these pools do you think would give me the best chance of catching a few small ones. just so i can get some confidence in the tackle im using?
  3. Thats a great idea. never fished the avon. Theres A couple of pools down by junction 1 on the M50 controlled by the baa, any idea if old esox resides in any of these. ant
  4. to be honest I thought that pike existed in all canals but it would be very embarrassing to find out that there aren't any in there. I am fishing above the city centre above blackpole on the baa stretch. it does look very natural with lots of reeds and trees on the far bank but to be honest I havn't heard of any either. Although I will still go spinning as those perch attacking my lure has given me something to go back for. Thanks for the advice lads at least I know that I got most things right I'll just have to be patient. ant
  5. Very strange day today. Went on my first lure session and found it very hard going.Been a very bright day so I left it till around 7 o clock before going to my local canal but after trying every lure in my box I couldn't get a take . I just didn't seem to have the confidence and wasn't sure if I was working the lure correctly etc, Water was very coloured so I thought a bright colour would be best. Was this a good decision?? tried slow retrieve and fast. Tried spinnerbaits, spoons, floating divers, even floating frogs danced along the reeds but nothing. I did get a couple of splashes near my floatng diver after it hit the surface at the base of a lock but nothing hooked. would these have been perch or chub?? does anybody have any tips for me regarding working lures? Anything please!!!!
  6. Hi dg, Can't find any powerpro here only pen braid. powerpro comes very highly recomended but the pen stuff has no reviews so would rather spend a little more on something I will be happier with. Any body know of a site for powerpro??
  7. powerpro it is then, can i get this from my local tackle shop or is it cheaper on the net?
  8. HI LADS, I AM TRYING TO GET IN TO LURE FISHING AND HAVE JUST BROUGHT A RON THOMPSON STEELHEAD SPINNING ROD(10-40g). I NOW NEED SOME BRAID BUT THERE ARE SO MANY DIFFERENT ONES OUT THERE IT IS VERY CONFUSING. CAN ANYBODY RECOMMEND A GOOD ONE PLEASE. IN LIGHT OF RECENT POSTS I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT I HAVE BEEN DOING A LOT OF RESEARCH IN TO THE HANDLING AND CARE OF FISH AND FEEL THAT I AM NOW READY TO GET OUT THERE AND ENJOY MY FIRST TASTE OF PREDATOR FISHING.
  9. THANKS GUYS, THATS A GREAT HELP
  10. Can somebody tell me how to make paste out of ordinary carp pellets please.
  11. Im on the look out for a new spinning/lure rod. I will be fishing canals and small ponds for small pike/perch/chub with spinners and small lures. can anybody recommend a decent one.(only ones that are still available please)
  12. (To Ridgeacre do you remember what those particular lillies were called and where to get them from) ok so if i just add a few barley bales then this should serve as two purposes. preventing the algae blooms. also fish must be attracted to these bales so it will serve as a feature too. Ill also move some of the reeds that are already in the lake to different areas. That way im not introducing something that shouldn't be there. Thanks for the help Tight lines
  13. there are reeds, so if i take some of these and anchor them in the margins will they take off? its roughly 6ft deep so will the shallow variety of lillies grow in this depth of water? Should i leave any planting till early spring?
  14. My club have just taken over a new pool but it has no features other than weeds at either end and these pegs seem to dominate most matches. What i would like to do is add features to each individual peg such as lillies, weeds etc. Our second pool has loads of these and what i would like to know is'when is the best time to take cuttings or to pull some of the weeds out and transfer them to the new pool? Also does anyone know why some fisheries put hay bails in the margin of there pools?
