  1. Peter.Bl***y hell, that much :eek.I'll let you know if i think of parting with it.I also have a 'chapman's''The Carp, which is fibre glass,so probably not in the same league as cane!.Have got stacks of books, some back to the early 50's,also a couple of bound, years editions of Fishing magazine's(an angling times product I think),also same with Creel and Anglers world mags.

  2. Peter, thats interesting(dennis pye rod)Its practically unused and in its original cloth bag,I have seen them for sale in Angling Times once or twice in the past for around £50 quid, which, if that is the case probably not a bad return on the original price(dont remember what that was)which probably was'nt that much.

  3. Dizidave,Far from an expert on this, but on the occasions that I use braid when bream fishing,i'm convinced that you get better bite registration as there is no stretch. Also you are in direct contact with the fish(again no stretch).I think there are more qualified people on here to advise you(seeD G's Thread) that I am.

Im a little cautious, and havnt tried using it for say chub or barbel, but my mate does and has no problems.I tend to be a bit of a bully when playing chub, and am not so sure you could be that way with braid!but could be wrong.

  4. Ahhhh,Mitchells.Ive just retired my 300 and Match after many years of great service.Just brought a new Mitchell and will be well pleased if it lasts as long. When i think of all the old gear thrown away over the years i cringe.Things like the wooden float and tackle winders, some with sliding compartments and the old metal maggot tins; the two foot long(yes two foot) keepnets that needed treating every so often and had a draw string around the top..Still have a whole cane rod and a built cane(dennis pye pike rod)by chapmans and an oldish speedia wide drum centre pin, which gets the occasional airing, none of which are probably worth a great deal, but i shall be holding on to them.

  5. Nigenibbles,I have to agree with what you say about AOL.The bl***y thing literally takes over the pc   .Perhaps we where just unlucky, but we had many problems with it,apart from the usual, ie being cut off just as you get to a site  .Dont know what the broadband version is like though.I will repeat what i said earlier, that Telewest broadband, up to now has been excellent for us.There is a fair amount on telewest's own site, apart from the speed advantage of it.

  6. Hi DG.Imust confess that I only seem to use my braided mainline when bream fishing(not very often),and when in Ireland, again bream fishing.

I have found that it does take some getting used to,but the bites are a lot easier to read from shy biting bream and hybrids.Think mine cost around £20,which isnt cheap compared to nylon, how that works out per metre against nylon i dont know!!,maths is not my strong point :( I have not used it for chub etc,but my mate uses braid a lot both on rivers and still water and he swears by it.

  7. Hi Rooney,I assume your question was, 'popular'as against say trout and salmon fishing.Probably because it is relativly cheap,as opposed to say trout fishing or migratoty trout and salmon fishing, and probably more accesable for the majority of anglers, even more so nowdays, with the vast aray of commercials around.

  8. Hi Bradford Angler,The Roller is a tripod affair with extending legs,ie the outerleg slides up and down and locks into place with a screw wheel. The area where the screw wheel tightens has sheersd away from the body.Apart from that the actual rollers supplied were total crap.As i have already said i for one wont give them my custom again.

  9. Kleiboet, someone did park in the space and got nicked,I do park there and if i get nicked i'll not pay up under any curcumstances.Got away from the original point i suppose; ie angling, but to what degree does a person need to be disabled,to gain disabled status!!In this day and age there are too many freeloaders prepared to jump on the bandwagon, weather it be unemployment, disability, compensation etc.

As i say if a person is totally genuine then good luck to them, they deserve a break in life

  10. Kleinboet,A few local's did actually object(anonymous)to the council re one individual,to no avail  Infact one disabled space is outside a house where NO disabled person lives, but despite objections, the council refuse to remove it

I certainly wouldnt object to genuine disabled anglers getting concessions, but as with a lot of so called unemployed, how do you distinguish between them!!Also what constitutes disabled.I used to do work for a guy who had serious problems(polio),but who held down a job, managed to drive and who didn't look for handouts.

  11. Hi Bradford Angler. The club that I belong to, 16 IS the age that a senior ticket starts:could be different with others.I think however most would accept 18 as a turning point to start paying full whack for a club ticket etc, however rod licence concessions only run up to the age of 16.

  12. Charge everyone the same. The only exception I would make is to juniors under 16.Once at 16 then they can start to earn some dosh and pay full whack. Why should women have reduced fee's!any more than men!!!If it's a question of Facilities, there aint no loo's by the river,I have to pee in the bushes,so whats different for them! except the need for a log to sit on.It cant be a question of cash as there a plenty of women out there earning more than the men.No sorry all pay the same, women, disabled, oap's and over 16's.

  13. I have very mixed feelings on this issue.I have to say I am able bodied(just about) :( ,and I dont profess to know what disability payments or social sec topups are available to the disabled.I think all anglers should pay the same, weather it is to clubs or rod licence fees.Sorry, but an awfull lot of commercial fisheries have swims that can be reached by car,and if a person is that disabled, are they likely to try and cross fields etc with mountains of gear!.Probably sounds really selfish to the genuine disabled person, but I have within 100yds of my house 4 disabled!!! parking spaces, but those very people quite easily manage to take the dog for mammoth walks,

or walk off to the shops without any difficulty.

What is dissability!!,sorry, to me it is not a bad arm or a doddgy leg.If I have upset anyone i'm sorry

  14. I Agree,Townlad.I very rarely use mail order, prefer to go to the tackle shop.It was a last minute thing; My daughter wanted to buy it(I was in need of a new roller)and it looked good, and it was easy for her to order online.

Im on my third e.mail to them plus a letter, still no reply   .

  15. Hi.Dont know about Tiscali, but used to be on AOL dialup which we had many problems with  .Stayed off the internet for some time, before being talked into Telewest Broadband by my daughters boyfriend.I have to say that I am impressed with it :) .
