I too have recently moved to near Farnham from Witley (near Godalming).
The River Wey is split into many fishing syndicates. The Frensham Fly Fishers have probably the best beats - but they are around £700 for the first year and £200 every year thereafter. On the otherhand, there is the Farnham Angling Society - which is mostly course fishing but does have several miles of river beats for very cheap money (~£90 for the year for several miles of fishing). These beats are not the best for trout but they are stocked, have some wild brownies and are easily accessible from Farnham.
Then there's the Whitewater fly fishing club which has better trout rivers but that's a good 20-30mins north of Farnham and again cheap at ~£100 a year.
