  1. Just the job, cheeers mate. Will my 9' pike be ok? It is rated at 1/2oz to 2oz?? or would I be better off getting a lighter and longer rod for mullet? As I have said, sorry about the questions but I am willing to learn off you old hands!
  2. If this has been asked before then I apologise. First of all a little bit of background, I currently use a couple of century beachcasters that I know are toooooooo heavy for mullet fishing. The same goes for my Bass rod, which is rated at 2oz to 4oz. I have a Normark 9' pike rod that is rated at 1/2oz to 2oz, is that rod fine forn mullet fishing? If not, I was thinking of something along the lines of: (1) A Barbel type rod that is rated at about 1lbtc to 1 1/2(ish)tc (2) Freshwater match rod 13'(ish) Coupled with a small fixed spool reel loaded with 6lb to 8lb line, 4lb hook length and a size 8 to 10 hook. It's ok I havent forgotten the float, what is a better, a self weighted float of one that takes split shot on the line? Sorry for all these questions but I would like to do this correctly and this seems to be the best place to ask. Also, I WILL be joining the NMC in the near future!
  3. I have seen big shoals of big fish within the last few weeks down Barry Dock, even in rough weather. They appeared to be cruising at a depth of about 2' to 3' below the surface. So hopefully they will be "catchable" within the next 2 weeks(ish)
