Hi Thanks for your replies. I have seen a Abu Enticer 10 ft rod 15-40grammes cw. that looks pretty good for the money.(£37) Would this be up to bass plugging? Richard

Hello Can anyone recommend a good rod for bass plugging when using lighter lures like Rapala j13's(18g) I use a carp rod for most of my spinning (with 1oz spinners) but this is a bit to much for plugs. Richard

Hi all I have a Abu Ambassadeur6501 C3 left hand reel with levelwind.I wish to do a mag conversion on it and have seen a Knobby type kit that uses one 6mm dia X 4mm deep magnet.Will this be enough for this reel as I have seen some conversions using three magnets of 10mm dia X 3mm deep? Thanks

Hi Newt Unfortunately Abu's left hand reels do not have mag brake AND levelwind .The 6501 C3 has no mags,only c/fugal brakes.

Hi all I have been offered a abu ambassadeur Pro Plus ultra cast mag reel It has a magnetic braking system and thumb bar spool release. The level wind disengages during the cast.It is sort of egg shaped.My question is ,is this reel suitable for casting with my bass rod(2-4oz ringed for multipier)I know nothing about multipiers as I've only used fixed spools before and I don't want to buy something that is not for a novice caster and not suitable.Also i presume it would be ok to use a shockleader with this reel as the levelwind folds out of the way for casting,is this correct.I have heard that a shockleader knot will catch on a normal levelwind. Sorry for posting a similar question again so soon but could somebody answer the following for me please. Will a Shakespeare Odessa Bass Rod(cast weight 2-4oz)lift 4 mackerel on a trace straight out of the sea say 10 feet up a rock face?(when rock fishing). Also Could a beachcaster(cast weight 4-6oz)be used to cast 1oz spoons/spinners?If not,then why not? Sorry if these seem like stupid questions but I am a complete novice and don't want to buy the wrong rod for rock fishing Thanks

Hello I'm new to fishing and as I live in Cornwall I would like to try rock fishing. My question is what is the best type of budget rod to buy for fishing for mackerel using 3 to 4 feathered/or shrimp type lures with a 2 to 3 oz weight on the end, and also spinning for mackerel,pollack and maybe bass with a 1oz Abu Toby type spoon? I have a fixed spool reel that will take 150yds of 12lb line. I believe I do not need anything as long as a 12ft beachcaster is this correct? Thanks a lot [ 13.
