  1. I doubt i'll have the time to do the repairs myself . I'm hoping the insurance company will pay for it to be repaired . However deep down i think they will write it off . chesters1 i don't want to get into some bitch fight however , we were all new to boating once . This was the first season i had the boat . It was coming out anyway for its winter work . Maybe you could be more constructive with your advice like everyone else . You obviously have a great deal of experience maybe instead of bitching you could pass it on .... Thanks to the rest of you some great advice , I'm still waiting for the insurance company to get back . If they right it off ,thats life and as i always say "If it doesn't kill you it can only make you stronger " "We are all allowed to make 1 mistake as long we learn from it " Lee
  2. Oh yes !! Need it for the mooring ! And being a novice i thought it would be a good idea .

  5. Look what happened to my boat last weekend. My boat was on its running mooring . The stern line broke . The wind took it push it onto the harbour wall (sloped) where it rubbed the fibre glass off. It was my first boat . This weather sucks !!! My poor boat !!
  6. Your not the first , and i'm sure you won't be last
  7. Ps ..Welcome aboard !! I'm sure your get some great advice , and maybe a good laugh

  9. Dear All , I am posting this thank you as a way of saying a big thanks to my local tackle shop . I was was off to Norway for a week with work . The evening before i was due to go my boat slipped its mooring ( the base plate from the running mooring had slipped) I attempted to sort the problem out myself . However the tides were crap and i couldn't dig the hole . So i had to tie the boat to another running mooring and hope my girlfriend could find some help. Enter Chris (local tackle shop owner) . The following evening Chris and his son went down to the boat and dug a new hole for my mooring . All i can say is thanks I am sure there are many other great stories . This one is mine ps. i have dropped a bottle of whiskey to him as well PPS. Newtown Angling , Praa sands , Cornwall

  11. I'm off to Norway next week with work . I have got the first weekend off and wondered if anyone has got some contact numbers for any Charter boats . I'll be staying in Stavanger,(south Norway ) [ 21. September 2005, 06:18 PM: Message edited by: dutyhero ]
  12. You'll need to tie the shock leader on with a special knot(half-hitch grinner) . When i started i brought myself a book of knots , something like "The sea anglers step by step tp Bait and rigs " Again your local tackle man should be able to show you . There is always good advice in the the magazine as well. The one thing i've learn't from fishing is "Everyday is a school day " You can never stop learning . When you go fishing and you see fellow anglers about ,start talking to them , they can be a font of information I went fishing one day and there were some guys casting , after a little chat i was getting casting lesson on the beach , great day didn't catch anything however increased my casting range by about 200%
