  3. I probably would've traded for some of that sunshine Good fishing to you Newt.

  6. Jim...the cart's not homemade, a few of us have and really like them...some have really made a lot of modifications though Fishnmate Carts. On the CCC....sounds like you know it's now fished on the Des Plains river...a few of us went down the day after the classic and fished the Chicago River....great nostalgia. Have we met?? Thanks for the kind words gents....anyone find themselves over this way...give us a shout...would love the opportunity to spend some banktime with ya. Good carping all.
  7. Definately a great time Newt. I hear ya on the "assuming"...took me almost 40 years to catch the first 3...then caught the last 3 this year. Seems the Scioto River has quite a few in it...one of our guys caught a 25 lbr in it a month or so ago. I remember the 1st one I caught out of Buckeye Lake a few summers ago...had a pretty big crowd around...they thought it was a deformed fish I thought it was beautiful
  8. on the Scioto River, downtown Columbus, Ohio. Had our first real cold snap of the year on friday night...dipped into the 20's F...and when arrived saturday morning it was 29F...didn't figure we'd have much luck with the arrival of the front. But...had a great time, Coney Island Hotdogs for lunch...great comraderie...and did manage a few fish. This was the first time any of us had fished this section of the river...and hoping to do a major event down there within the next couple of years. Fishwise...managed my 6th ever mirror ...and saturday night with clear skies had a great view of the eclipse. Wish I'd attempted some pics of it. Anywho..... if you want to see some pics... click here. . No need to sign in, just click the picture. Good carping all...and have a great week
  9. Hi Budgie...great to hear from you. Definately still at it...seems to get worse the older ya get (fishing addiction). Don't seem to make it here to Angler's Net as much as I would like...stay pretty active on some of the Ohio sites promoting carping....and fishing. Hope all's well with you and yours. Are you still guiding? Good fishing to you. [ 25. October 2003, 10:06 PM: Message edited by: Buckeye Bob ]
  10. Most definately Elton...we've got a few guys that definately go all out for us...this year we've had steak fajitas, london broil, pulled pork, stuffed chicken b reasts, special sausages and the list goes on. Told Tammy if I don't go for the fishing, I'll definately make mealtime. Good Carping to ya....

  12. Thanks Gaffer...always enjoy your articles. Been meaning to give this rig a try. Thanks for the effort.
  13. JMW...forgot to mention. Don't hesitate to email Nick...he has communicated with other carpers, from the UK too, in the past who were vacationing in Florida. I've never met him but, he's a long standing member. I've made many a new carping friend through the CAG..doing just this...sending emails to CAG members I'd never met asking for information on their state...we CAGr's love to share our passion for carping with those interested. Noticed I messed up the email addy...here it will hopefully work better mailto:L.A.LEE@WORLD.ATT.NETL.A.LEE@WORLD.ATT.NET [ 12. March 2003, 07:35 PM: Message edited by: Buckeye Bob ]
  14. JMW...as Newt has said seems Florida might be difficult. We do have one CAG member in Florida...Jacksonville area by the name of Nick... email L.A.LEE@WORLDNET.ATT.NET He would probably be your best source. BTW...I did watch a great fishing show for grass carping in Florida a year or so ago. In the canals, as mentioned by Newt's thread referral...a charter captain took folks around during the time mulberries were ripening and dropping into the water...they caught some nice ones floating mulberries.
  15. I've heard many stories on how U.S anglers got started and addicted to carp angling in a country where it's popularity is not as high it is in the UK and other parts of the world. Just curious to hear some stories on how/why some of you got started...age, event, who influenced/taught etc. Here's a short story on how I got started http://www.geocities.com/rrbski/carperborn.html Looking forward to hearing yours.
  16. I know I haven't posted in awhile but wanted to let y'all know that I frequently visit and refer carpers (via my personal page) to the Articles and Review sections, and Gaffer's Clinic...GREAT stuff. There's only so much computer time a guy can spend and I'm guilty of spending most of my available time on Ohio fishing forums spreading the word about carping within my home state. Having said that.... I'd like to extend an invite to all AN members, that may be visiting the U.S this summer, to attend any of our Carp Angler's Group Fish In's. They can be seen at http://www.carpanglersgroup.com/fishins.html .. Please check back frequently as additional events are being added as state chairs get them organized. Many great things are going on this year....in addition to many more state level fish in's we've got two international events this year; one a two member team competition in Austin, Tx (30 teams total with representation by other countries) as well as a Youth Carping Clinic/tournament in the State of New York...with "Harry Potter" participating and being the big draw...this is a joint venture by several organizations within and outside the U.S. For the first time this year...we had a presence at state level sportshows outside of Illinois. The east coast guys did a great job in Connecticut...as did the state of Indiana in the midwest. Lots of positive exposure and response from the public...not to mention new memberships for the CAG. BassPro Shops...even hosted a carping presentation at it's store in Cincinnati, Ohio and since then some of the attendees have asked for a return presentation...this time bankside on the Ohio River in July. It's a great time to be a carper in the U.S.....please join us bankside if you find yourself in the area...I would enjoy the opportunity of sharing the banktime...and in thanking you UK carpers for the hair rig in particular. When it's coupled with the packbaits I learned from the North Carolina Paylakers...it's deadly. Homemade nutrabaits pineapple/banana pop-ups inside a molasses or chocolate flavored steam rolled oats packbait (similar to fishing the method...but packed around the haired hookbait instead of a feeder or around the lead.)..was great for me last year. Good carping all...hope to see you on the bank. PS...if you find yourself visiting at other times than the Fish In's and are interested in doing some carping...we've got CAG members in most every state that would be glad to point you in the right direction and possibly even join you bankside. And if Newt hasn't already told you...he's now the CAG Chair for North Carolina. A great ambassadeur for the sport.
  17. Haven't posted here in awhile but do check in periodically to read the articles, reviews, and Gaffer's clinic. Figured it was about time to say thanks to all that contribute to those areas...I surely enjoy. Thanks for the efforts...they're definately appreciated.
