  1. Thanks for the link ... i'll check them out It doesnt have to be for 10ft ... 11ft or even 12ft would be ok Having mainly carp fished over recent years i'm used to having my rods transported & stored already assembled & cannot see why the same could not be had when i use my match/leger rods. Everything is then transported in a Chub "Triple S" rod pouch fully assembled. I prefer to keep the rods in a Nylon type pouch to save the line getting caught.
  2. Anyone know where i can purchase a lightweight (not padded) rod sleeve that will accomodate an assembled 10ft 2 piece rod & reel ???

    Line ?

for anyone interested Birmingham Angling Centre on 0121 373 6627 are Gold Label Tackles' retail outlet & stock the full range of line in Pro Gold including 100mtr spools from £5.95 500mtr spools from £9.95 1000mtr spools from £14.50 Breaking strains stocked from 2.5lb & upwards Just ordered 500mtr of 4.4lb in Pro-Gold to give a try on wagggler & ledger rods I just gotta sort out my floating line & hooklength line now .... any more suggestions . I'm leaning towards Drennan Float Fish & perhaps Double Strength for hooklengths ?????????

    Line ?

Should of asked this at the beginning but is when it comes to hooklengths, is there a preference or do people just use same line as whats spooled up with (albeit lighter bs). Is fluorocarbon an option for lightish hooklengths these days ???

    Line ?

Thanks for the responses people ... It seems sticky label on the spool maybe the way forward. Like the sound of Pro-Gold, so may need to check that out & Drennan float for the closed face perhaps For my coarse reels 6-7 different lines would be about right, but then i have my reels for carp fishing, that can vary from a 5acre to a 140acre lake where casting distance, weed & other features would make a difference on what line i use. I'm never happy to sit behind a 3lb tc rod & big pits when my lighter rods & baitrunner reels will suffice, so i have 2 sets of 3 reels all with spare spools

    Line ?

Couple questions on the line front. Question 1 Could i have some recommendations for a good line for waggler fishing (4lb bs) & stick float (perhaps a little lighter, havent decided on bs yet). Question 2 I've worked out today i have nearly 20 spools for different reels all with different types of line on. I'm pretty aware whats on my larger reels as they get used & changed more often, but struggling to remember whats on everything else. So in the age of multiple spools with different lines on each, i'm interested to know how everyone remembers what line is on what spool, how you know how long its been on there etc etc ... Do you guys write this kind of stuff down or is it all memory ???
  7. Yes ... i had read differering views on the MAP CFS reels. However it was one i bought a few years back as a "cheapie" but yet to really use. If i were to buy another reel i would perhaps stick to the Shimano's & Daiwas of the world but will give the MAP one benefit of doubt for time being. Thats bloody decent of ya Kev ... leave it with me mate & ll PM you when my first trip will be
  8. After much deliberation & phoning the local tackleshops to me this morning (unfortunately no-body had anything). I have just placed an order for a pair of MAP CFS 12FT 2 PIECE MEDIUM POWER WAGGLERS. The price was reasonable enough to take the chance & hopefully should receive on Thursday. I'm hoping to pair one up with my old but mint ABU 602m closed face reel (do people still use closed face reels these days ??) for trotting the stick float & the other with a MAP CFS 30 fixed pool jobbie on the waggler. Now onto the next requirement (i apologise in advance as gonna need to as a lot more questions............ ) Thanks very much for everyones replies ... you've all been very helpful
  9. Has anyone any experience of Garbolino as a manufacturer & maybe the Mayhem Pellet Rods ... Good, bad, how they compare to others etc ??
  10. Yes ... i've been eying one of them ... I have got a Chuble Triple S rod sleeve that may also do the same trick .... store shelter etc in the unused rod section ... though this may prove a little too optimistic
  11. Thanks Kev ... i'll check that out. Only thing is after i sort the float rod out i'm gonna invest in a seperate ledger/quiver tip rod that can also left assembled ... Then its just finding a small holdall to carry both rods (assembled) banksticks, shelter & net handle.
  12. Thanks for the responses so far Yes i think that best describes what i'm after .... gotta be 2 piece though Yes the 2piece is the "deal breaker" for me as i still have a Drennan 13' Waggler (3 piece) from back when i used to fish this way. Interested to read your comments on the MAP CFS rods ... I will check out the medium waggler
  13. Hi Folks. After a long (nearly 15 years) lay off from the match/float fishing scene to concentrate on my carp fishing ... i'm starting to feel the "draw" back to a bit of silver fishing. Wow how it all seems to have changed. Do people seem still fish for "silvers" or is it all small carp nowadays ?? What i'm after is a budget (£50-£70) float rod to get me back into it. I want to be able to leave it assembled so a 2 piece & 12foot is preferable. It needs to be an "allrounder" (waggler & stick float if these methods still exist ) I like the sound of the SHAKESPEARE MACH 3 MICRO 11FT PELLET WAGGLER as the reviews seem to be so consistent, but i have very little knowledge as to how a pellet waggler differs from a normal waggler & i'm also a little wary at only being 11ft ?? The one that very much appeals is the MAP CFS 12FT 2 PIECE POWER WAGGLER as this offers the extra foot, but am worried i'll end up with a "thick ol' broomstick" in comparison with the Shakespeare but i envisage the extra foot in length could come in useful. I'm hoping to fish a 1-2 acre stillwater, a 5 acre still water & a medium sized river ... and envisage perhaps 1-1/2lb - 2lb hooklengths being the lightest. I will be ordering online so any advice appreciated people
  14. The best are the Delkims TXI's imo ... absolute proven track record, amazing battery life made by a british company with a good customer service. Having said that, they are top money, so whether they are "value for money" would be a decision made by the owner/purchaser .... I wouldn't change mine As for remotes encouraging people to leave there rods, cant agree with that, as that type of person would normally turn there alarms up to full volume & bugger off anyway. Remotes offer a subtle bite detection (without informing the whole lake), helps with hearing them when the weather outside is noisy & personally think everyone should have one.
  15. thinks he may be sorted mate as the last post before yours was 2 years ago
  16. Do any of you guys use the Korum Day Shelter that could give me a review on how your getting on with it. I understand its quite bulky when packed away ... Is this right & would it be possible to give me an idea of weght of the shelter (without pegs) Many Thanks Paul
  17. The classic Shakespeare Seatbox included 2 trays. All pretty clean, a bit grubby on the seat. £15.00 collect from Herne Bay, Kent
  18. Hi Neil. Checked out Heronsview ... bit of hole in ground for my liking, Heard good things on the syndicate behind Stour lake but very little info about it seems & aparantly difficult to get on waiting list. Dont know anything about Sandwich ... what waters have they got mate ??
  19. No PM recieved mate Disregard as just come through
  20. No mate ... whats the situation there ??
  21. Thanks for the resposnes guys ... DDAPS isnt really my cup of tea to be honest & a little further than ideal from where i would need to be if needed
  22. Hi Folks. I'm on look out for a quiet syndicate water that offers the following Mature setting at least 5 Acres up to whatever Nice condition carp (size & stock numbers isnt necessary a priority) A friendly bunch of people to fish with. Secure venue. Here's the snag (sorry for pun ) .... Due to my wifes health i need to be no more than half hour from Herne Bay in Kent (This is more for my peace of mind than hers ) I am already a member of MKF tier 2 & previous member of CDAA. Wingham Fishery is out of my price range at £575 plus £195 joining fee (unfortunately ) I understand this is probably the longest of long shots but please, if anyone has any info on anywhere that may suit that i can join for next season or get my name down on a waiting list, then i would really appreciate a PM. Discretion offered if required.
