  1. Hello, I recently picked up a book. The spirit of the pond by tom o'reilly. Very nice book illustrated by the author, short but long enough to read sitting on the bank in an afternoon! The book details the auhtors local pools, and his childhood to adult experiences. Also as probably afore mentioned, the complete angler by sir isaac newton, the jewel of all fishing literature. Thight lines,
  2. As an english archer and angler, I am aware that it is illegal to shoot any living creature with a bow and arrow in the uk, as it is rare to get a kill shot, ie the animal ends up tortured and tormented. In america as has already been said, carp have no value, and again as already said this comes from a country where turkeys are hunted with spring loaded, vicious barbed arrows, sporting isnt it? 3. Dear Judy, Sorry to hear you were disappointed. Sometimes the weather can affect the fishing, but I am sure if you spoke to other anglers, more than 80% return year over year, they appriciate that fishing is a game of chance and luck can run up and down, the fact that they return speaks for itself. You must of caught us on a bad week. Hope you find your perfect fishing venue, Emma
  4. On the lakes at home, I remember there was a week a few years back, when one unusual angler used frank furter sausage, and for one week everything ate them and everyone had a beano, espeacially the local tescos which sold out of frank furters for a week! Well done and tight lines!
  5. Having recently viewed a Korda dvd, which towards the end featured footage of fish feeding underwater, I was wondering if anyone had seen similar? The dvd was volume 2, lent from a friend, and if there is anyone out there who knows the contents of volume 1? I have to say the main content of the dvd did not appeal to me as a traditionalist angler, but the behaviour of the ever intelligent carp towards and with other fish was very intriguing. The intelligence displayed by the fish (espeacially the tench) was amusing. And is a good way to learn the lesson of patience, the fish play with a bait so much, you simply have to leave it on its own to give the fish time. Any other infomation about the behaviours of fish would be most interesting. Thanks, tight lines, Emma
  6. Just a quick note, the friend of lonsdale park, the angler who caught the 1olb 2oz tench has just topped it today with an 11lb 4oz monster, taken on source boillies on Lonsdale lake
  7. Lonsdale Park, do great holidays, and are family oriented, with great pleasure and carp fishing. However we dont take dogs sorry! If you would consider leaving the furry companions in kennels, the website is: www.lonsdalepark.co.uk Tight lines
  8. Hi, This is Lonsdale Park, recently we'vehad a great week, a 29lb mirror ghost, a 22lb ghost a 27b common and a 10lb 2oz tench, as well as massive roach fishing. As for advice source boillies (sold competatively on site) and various ground baits are doing well for carp. When folks arrive, we discuss what has happened the week previously and give the advice needed, in the hope our guests have the best advantage! For more info and upto date advice look at www.lonsdalepark.co.uk Tight lines, Emma Lonsdale Park
