  1. Hi glen i think i am losing me marbles, i sort of remember something on here at the time now? anyway do you think if your no trawl area was policed properly it would make any difference to things? and also how would you feel if cod was exempt from bag limits and bass was not, cheers....
  2. Going through bits and bobs on the marine white paper from earlier this year, i was wondering what martin salter was refering to from a quote in parliament I shall conclude with a few final thoughts. Why do we not go further than the provisions in the marine Bill and create a golden mile—an area, let us say for argument's sake, a mile from our coast, free of commercial exploitation and inshore netting, where only recreational sea angling is permitted? That approach has already been adopted in Yorkshire and the north-east and is producing tremendous results, not just for the recreational sea angling sector, but for commercial fishermen, who are enjoying better fishing as a result of better and more productive spawning grounds. If we protect that area, it feeds the food chain, supports spawning and recruitment, and increases biodiversity. Doe's yorkshire and the north east already have a golden mile? http://www.theyworkforyou.com/debate/?id=2007-04-19b.529.4
  3. Yeah i agree with you steve it is a little pathetic but it does show that the average uk national is frightened of he's own shadow nowadays and is determined to bury its own head to everything, pc measures like this for instance just helps it along a lttle further, cheers and good luck to you.
  4. jaffa it was a pi**take mate, commercials have never considered anyone or anything before in their lives but themselves, and like you said until now, cheers.........
  5. From this load of bo**cks jaffa http://www.fishupdate.com/news/fullstory.p...ion_policy.html
  6. An estimated 800,000 tonnes of dead fish were thrown back into the North Sea last year. Once the extra 11% has been caught (which wont take long) they will be dumping fish back in again and you must also consider that the extra effort that will be applied will lead to more undersized fish being dumped back as well, negating any benefits for anyone,. surely chris you are not that naive, perhaps you are! cheers.........
  7. 11% cod increase will not stop fish being dumped now will it chris
  8. NO!! and i will completely quit the hobby altogether, unless they get rid of the commercial bias that exists from the sfc's and upwards and put in proper measures to benefit the biggest part of the rsa, and thats shore angling
  9. I dont know why you and others realy bother leon, i would let them get on with it and let the commercials fish themselves in to oblivion, mr shaw has proven what we all know what he is, a complete KNOBHEAD!
  10. Hi barry, i dont read as much as you but whats in the pipeline for under tens?
  11. I dont tell porkies challenge unlike some on this forum mate.
  12. Il answer that challenge it will probably be! BANG"your nicked mr RSA and slap on wrist you naughty boy and dont do it again wile i am looking mr commercial
  13. Why is that challenge? is it because people sheet there pants in this country over the fear of being called racist nowadays, its all boolacks as far as i am concerned, but i dont mind saying that because of this present governments balls up on emigration i have no job "FACT" bunch of wonkers they are.
  14. Perhaps the labour party should change their anthem to the blue mink's melting pot
  15. Hi colin, good post mate, i am a southern bass angler but not only bass, but mullet/cod/yting/pout/dabs/flounder etc etc, but il tell you what! it did not stop me replying to consultations and petitions for other anglers needs in other areas on their species, but by the way people are starting to point fingers and accuse all southern bass anglers of only thinking of bass and f the rest, i am beggining to think why i should have bothered, i thought sea anglers wanted the same thing more and bigger fish, but now i realy dont know.
  16. No, dont keep jumping the gun ron, all i was trying to say is you guys are a little touchy on the subject of conservation.
  17. Personally ron, i think the commercials should get "jack" they have had everything uptil now there own way, i have never bought the idea that just eu legislation has brought the colapse of there industry about, over fishing and the lack of fish might have something to do with it dont you think? As for being worse off nah i dont think so, it cant get any worse mate and who knows? have a mile exclusion zone put in some artificial reefs here and there and maybe the fish will breed and stay put?
  18. No as long as the mls does not exceed 1mm for all species and discarding is not abolished, you should get on quite nicely with these fine old chaps.
  19. Hi ron, mr average angler in my neck of the woods is having his sport severely bo**xed up by a commercial who insists on sticking a couple of fleets of nets along the bottom of a very popular beech,s groynes all this winter, you come down here and ask them what they want matey.
  20. Yeh its a good site, but be prepared for a bit of a slagging now and then from the fillet and release boys, if you mention anything good about conservation though.
  21. I was thinking (which is dangerous for me ) how it would apply to foreign nationals coming across the channel to do a bit of sea angling, would they have to buy one if they came inside the 12 mile limit?
