  1. I am aware that this would never happen but an exclusion zone of as little as 1or2 miles around our shores from commercial fishing will create our very own nursery. Something needs to be done or there will be no sport left for future generations. Farmers who leave their fields fallow get subsidies and "compensation" from the EU when commercial fishermen are restricted on their catch they get no help from anyone, at the end of the day commercial fishermen arn't monsters their tying to earn a crust like the rest of us.
  2. I'm of to the isle of Arron in December and was wondering if it was worth packing the rods, has anybody fished these waters?what species/baits?
  3. Anyone planning on fishing the NE scotland should be trying Arbroath luckily we virtually get cod all year round but especially now the dark nights a here, it is a better night venue but as long as the water rough and cloured cod will be caught. Easy access on the pier fish the flood on or just after a good easterly storm. Fish large worm/squid cocktails on a pennel for codling. Can get busy so arrive early limited space. If access isnt such an issue head towards the cliffs better kelp beds hold the bigger fish. Same time same bait. Auchminthie which is a few mins further north is also a very good venue.
  4. My mate is a filleter down Grimsby docks I got him to get my knife. Not sure where its from and no fancy name cost me £20 its absolutly brilliant. A quick run down a steel in between fillets keeps it like a razor. I use a different knife for gutting. Only problem I have is stopping her using it to cut carrots and such like.
  5. Have just purchased a new Daiwa Sandstorm have read all the reports and its sounds pretty good, has anyone used one or no anyone that has one who can give a first hand opinion? Also any suggestiions for a suitable reel. thinking a 525 mag or slosh 20.
