  11. While driving today, on an outing to our nearest garden centre my son Jack (7yrs) asked " dad why is the sea salty" my reply was I dont really know, he replied " when we flush the tolet does it go into the sea"? I replied only when it has been cleaned. on later investigation he thought the sea was salty from our wee. So to put his mind at rest we did a search on the internet and came up with. Weathering of continents, Hydrothermal vents, submarine volcanoes all contributed to a salty sea, all found on www.utdallas.edu/~punjana/oceans/why. Worth a look. Children don't you just love them to bitts. Anyone else had good questions from their children, just in case Jack comes up with another one

  19. Born in Coxhoe Lived in Stillington till 11 then to Sedgefield Now living in the South West
  20. We went to Sedgefield for Xmas and New year, visit my parents, didnt take any fishing gear with me, so around the 22nd Jack my son (7rs) and I were needing a fishing session so we went with Mum and sisters to blackhall rocks armed with a 10ft rod and enough line for crab line. Nothing doing. Next day, Grandad Jack and myself went to the piers in Hartlepool to have a look we walked onto (the one you can get to off Jacksons landing, near the new flats, with a sign saying do not enter on the open gate. Sea was looking rough so when we got to the bridge Grandad and Jack stopped, I walked on to the area where everyone was fishing to get some info, I looked back and dad and Jack were soaked buy a wave coming over the top, it was time to go. 28th, over to North east angling, cheap beach rod combo, bait and ready made rigs, then of to North Gare pier, cold very cold, remember I left all fishing gear at home, but took home 2 whiting and they were lovely(could have been 3 but I was shaking that mutch I couldnt tell if it was me shaking or a bite. Returned to North Gare on new years eve with Jack caught fish but not big enough to take home. Just been to Abbotsbury today caught a poor cod I think I need to move back to the north Its better fishing?
  21. Ziggy will be off line for around 2 weeks, his missus changed phone companies, say no more If you need to contact Ziggy leave info and I will pass it on.
  22. Ziggy and I tried Dunster beach last night, large baits, no Cod not event a knock, Total Sea fishing were wrong, here's a good one, on the way back I was watching the air temp outside the vehicle we were in, -0.5, then I said to Ziggy minus one, he replied what swan, taking his foot off the acelerator and he didn't have a drink.
  23. Hopefully I will be there early evening, taking my son fishing off westbay pier late morning, hopefully catch up with you then.
