well guys it seems strange to me why defra want anglers to pay for a licence to use the revenue to police the commercial sector seems madness why not make them pay who are doing the dammage or that to simple to work out

having read boat skippers reply he forgot to mention the amount of discards the pair trawlers kill its unbelievable these boats trawl about 400 yards apart each pulling one wire giving an enormous spread when they hall the nets they close together and hey presto every thing in their way goes in that net the truth is carnage every one of those small codlings in 1years time cold be 2- 3 pounds in weight then double after these boats are **** fishers and must be banned

leon i can see your point its hard to prove this goes on i run a charter boat off the north east coast i personally have seen dead dophins floating at sea its quite obvioce what has happened yes pair trawlers in the last five years this method off fishing has took off with about 95percent off the boats fishing for white fish it is just to efficent they are hammering everything that swims ive been chartering for over 20years but the last 5years as seen a massive reduction in fish numbers hundreds thousands boxes off black fish has been landed over the years their just has nt been any quotas i pasionatley believe if pair trawling is nt stopped soon the fishery will tottaly colapse unfortunatley ben bradshaw has had the wool pulled over his eyes by the commercial sector

iwould like to point out that pair trawling for cod kills many dolpins and porpoices this is fact as iknow quite a few lads who work on these pair trawlers and they have told what goes on so guys there is a strong argument to get this practice stopped if it can be done for bass it can be done for cod haddock whiting

winter is right pair trawling is disaster for cod and must be stopped they will try and catch the last codling
