  1. Simon When you stayed in our spare room I told you not to look in the waredrobe!!
  2. time to test brighton canoes return policy maybee. Oh well its only money!
  3. Ive just got the eckla trolly the one that adjusts and goes up into the scupper holes. And then folds away into a bag. I used it yesterday and It does worry me with regard to damageing the scupper holes. I just lined the posts up and then dropped the yak onto the rubber supports but naturaly the trolly tilts to 45 degrees and then you pull it along. Am i missing something, should I be running a luggage stap under or something in order to keep the trolly vertical thus less strain to the holes? Cheers OZ
  4. the yak does seem to glide but im not qulified to make comparisons as yet. I had about half a coffee cups worth of water in the hull come to think of it. Funny enough I dreamt I had bought a caper last night. It would be nice to be able to throw the yak in the back of the van from time to time Im sure yaks are like surf boards and in surfing longboards glide and reduce paddeling effort and short boards are more manouverable but require more effort to push through the water. So based on that I guess a scupper would feel fast and glide in comparison with a caper?
  5. Great Pics Simon I never realised I was that handsome! Your a true pro with a camera. And yes you need a nice tight butt to fit in the scupper pro
  6. wow this threads been busy while ive been away!! 1-Great photos of roof racks 2-leaking scuppers - Is that the holes in the bottom? If so then yes I grabbed some scupper plugs when at brighton canoes(jolly nice people) and yes ones gone missing and the other 3 leak. 3-Musket - Thanks for the offer of a yak trip. If I could get the thing on the roof Id be down. 4 - I need a blo ody ROD LEASH I went out today off the local beach and decided to trawl a plug behind the yak . I was useing a 6.6 american baitcasting rod set up. The problem with the scupper pro rod holders is that they get in the way of paddling. I hit the rod and plop! it was gone!!. I saw about one inch of rod butt floating above the surface, so I came about(talking the lingo eh!) and the rod had sunk. Fortunately I had Fox floating braid on the reel and in the calm sea I could see the line floating on the surface so was able to haul the rod up. lucky that time. SO NEXT ITS ROD LEASHES AND TROLLYS
  7. Back to fish finders I have a garmin 160 blue brand new and boxed. It says on the packageing that its waterproof to 3 meteres so I checked it out with garmin and they told me it was unsuitable for yakking . Do any of you guys have an opinion on this??
  8. my old T4 was long wheelbase and had a fold down front seat . Ive now got a SWB so its on the roof and solid seat How much is the Hullovator?
  9. That Hullovator looks stunning but im not sure what it costs but im sure I cant afford it. I drive a VW T4 transporter so its going to be a game for sure. Bournmouth canoes do have those handles (not online though) so will order by phone
  10. Well ive taken the plunge and now have a scupper pro And have already begun the search for extras. Where can I get some side handles for lifting her onto roof racks etc?? Cheers Oz
  11. whats that saying ? If the ar-se fits buy it
  12. Ive just seen the post Simon used my computer the other day and posted that reply UNFORTUNATELY!! it was simon and not me that had it ,and well lets say that it would just about fit in a Sardine tin! Im still rather jelous, so thats the last invite down from me.
  13. AAAGGHHH - Of course this comes up as Barra - I am down staying with him and using his computer! Sorry for the confusion - it is this technology thing getting in my way again
  14. Fatsimon - where will you be going out from. I would be interested in coming out with you and seeing how these things work - OR bring it up to Wales and we'll put you on some tope (May - June next year for that now). I am looking for kayak reviews to do for Boat fishing Monthly - so if you want to meet up.... If you are going out over the Skerries we want to do a feature on catching plaice over the banks from kayaks next spring too. Keep in touch. Simon.
  15. Caught a Gilthead bream flyfishing yesterday - took a yellow/white clouser. Fishing in warm water from the kayak. Black bream are about in W. wales still, for another couple of weeks at least. Come October they disappear somewhere - probably Jersey!!!
  16. 6 gone 4 left! I had 2 bass in the dark this morning useing a black fly and one of these wiggle fins, within a couple of minuites of swapping tactics. they vvvvibrate!
  17. 3 gone 7 to go try cats whiskas-fritz/dog nobblers/salar salmon singles any sandeell or fishy flies. just give them a wash after. i imagine a gang of 3 flies , 3 feet appart woud do well, with the heavy fly on the point.leader possibly 18 foot long when trolling im going to get hold of a load of lead core lines for deeper trolling and give it a go on bright days.
  18. Hi Hungry Bass hunter I cant comment on wreks but estuarys have been a focus of mine for the last year or at least early and late season (rather than rocky shallow broken ground) during the milder months. look for strong rips and fish the boiling eddies on the creases. look at fishing rips and natural ambush points on the ebb rather than on the push--- during the flood the bass (ive met) tend to push on up and past you , on the ebb they will often get out of the top end ,retreat ahead of the baitfish and then nail them on the way out. hours 2 - 4 of a new tide and hours 2 1/2 to 4 1/2 of the ebb have been kindest to me in the estuary environment
  19. Hands up who trolls flies pm with name and address for a free gift, my way of sucking upto the yakking world and saying thank you for the advice (first 10 people,Im not that nice!) wiggle fins rock Moderator please delete if regarded as spam!
  20. questions questions!! i see every one has the bright coloured yaks . do many of you have the dull green coloured ones?? Im sure they are less safe but I do wonder if a big bass would scarper when it see's a big yellow banana floating towards them!
  21. cheers for the advice. I may well try to take you up on the demo offer. I live in cornwall but my father lives in portsmouth, we may well be up that way on either the 27 th or 29 th of september. With regard to PSD's I have a manual trigger crewsaver, would that be suitable?
  22. Imdespirate to get a yak. Ive found that dream mark but cant get to it. Im just not sure what would be a good starter. 12.5 stone 5 foot 4 good balance and used to surfing and watersports saltwater flyfishing only. will want to fish the manacles ultimately so need to fight srong rips etc. Any thaughts would be appreciated and perhaps second hand tips. cheers oz
  23. Cheers for the tips etc I fish the south coast / lizard almost exclusivly. I see no point in hitting the north coast, im haveing a great time and catching plenty of Bass this year(on fly). I see simon is well genned up on the local area from his post. I MUST get a yak!! Ive been eyeing up the best looking mark you could hope to find. I know guys who rope down to it but I would rather float than climmb.I almost made myself sick(hung over) this morning trying to get down to it. Its about 1 mile from the closest launch area. Im thinking about a 13 foot prowler Is the 15 foot very different? Richsurfer Porthleven is home to the best wave (allegedly) in the UK although the cribber at Newquay fires a couple of times a year My contact details are on this web page. web page Give us a buzz if your around Austen
