  1. Decided not to use the paste in the end. The lake is full of small fish, its deificult to get your bait to sink theres so many. I caught 5 carp between 4lb & 8Lb so not a bad day. Caught 2 on prawns, 2 on bread & 1 on meat. My old man only caught 2 carp at about 4lb each so im £10 better off.
  2. Thanks for the advice guys, if the small stuff are messing with it too much ill use boilies or pellets. ill let you know how it goes
  3. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...7170072397&rd=1 Got if from ebay, supposed to be ggod stuff but 1st time im trying it. Im using the float fishing about 4 feet deep.
  4. Forgot to mention, the lake im fishing has loads of small fish in, who regularly nip the food without taking it. Many carp in there but you have to be a patient & wait for the small fish to leave your bait alone. Its so stocked you could catch 100 small fish in a hour on maggot easily.
  5. Fishing tomorrow for the first ever time with paste & would be grateful for any advice or tips. Going with me and my dad and have put a friendly tenner on the most weight.
  6. Fished my local canal today, had a poor days fishings but did notice a carp which must have been 30lb on the top by weeds for half hour. Didnt go after it as only had 4lb line on and wouldnt have syood a chance. There was an article recently in anglin times abou canal fishing for carp. If i remember correctly it advised using colourful baits and pre baiting the swim.
  7. A mate and i want to do some night fishing at either a local canal or river. Was wondering if we can legally o this or do we need permission to take a tent/bivey down and stay over? The particular area of the canal i want to fish is quite private so see no reasn why not.
  8. I pull the hook through it, then twist the hook 90 degress. I also keep an ice pack on my meat when im fishing as without it, it quickly becomes softer and is more likely to fall of your hook. [ 01. July 2005, 07:32 PM: Message edited by: Nathan M ]
  9. about 11lb, looks quite fat. Where did you catch it from? [ 30. June 2005, 08:42 PM: Message edited by: Nathan M ]
  10. Went fishing a few weeks back on 3LB line & had a great days fishing catching regularly & some nice carp. I then went back to the same place using 6LB line & barely caught at all. I know this could be a coincidence (different conditions etc) but do you think the heavier your line the less fish that take your bait. I know that obviously the heavier your line the more you can bully the fish but should you use weaker/haevier lines at different times. Might sound a daft & inexperienced question but i gotta learn from somewhere.
  11. Didn't do too well guys, only caught 1 carp and finished with 4lb 13oz. I finished 14th out of 21. 61lb won it, 2nd was 28lb. Im still learning lots, so hopefully this time next year ill move up a few positions.
  12. Bluezulu, thanks a lot for the advice, only bought 2 points of maggots wish i bought more now. Im gonna see if i can get more tomorrow before i go. Ive also got meat, sweetcorn, worm & casters. ill let you know how i get on.
  13. Thanks for your help guys, Mike i am using rod & line. Although my old man is gonna use a pole, so id appreciate advice on both. [ 18. June 2005, 08:22 AM: Message edited by: Nathan M ]
