  1. I know you are trying to be funny, but it comes over a bit aggressive to a new young user with a genuine question not very freindly perhaps?
  2. Ha,ha typical Crapaud joke. Hi there nomoretequila. There are quite a few of us that Yakfish over here. Cobo is popular with us for the Bass. I have been out of action for the last couple of months after an elbow op. but am gradually building the arm up to full strength again. I do most of my yakking around Rocquaine, Lihou island and Perrelle areas using my jadegreen Cobra F&D. Weather permitting Id be happy to meet up for a session or just a chat.
  3. Thats only a 7ft 4oz uptide my favorite.I keep the 10horse auxilliary safely stowed in the center hatch!Rub.
  4. Sorry about the size of my pic (not yak)must learn how to resize next, the detail is good though. This is my local beach,Rocquaine, tide coming in last month just before my first Bass landed on board occured,Rub
  5. Tried to send a pic of my big fat yak, it went without a message, where to though?I cant see it.
  6. I reckon 7up or Sprite can be classed as toxins, just boil in plain water with a teaspoon of salt for 15mins then remove the crabs straight away so they dont soak up the water, they pick much easier when warm but not difficult when cold anyway, beautiful with a bit of salt and pepper.
  7. Ta very much Speci,Ill give it a go tomorrow after a good nights sleep,Rub
  8. I just cant do it,PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE,somebody tell me step by simple step how to post a picture/photo its driving me mad trying,Rub.
  9. I totally agree with Speci that Spider crabs make superb eating better than Edible crabs.Try eating Garfish. They are a bit boney but are a lovely sweet tasting meat.I would eat the humble Pollack in preference to Bass any day, Rub.
  10. Weve just had one of the highest tides of he year yesterday (10.2m) so I think I may give it a go this weekend when tideshave slackened a bit. I do remember the odd Bream Ive caught did really taste good, quite honestley I dont see what people see in Bass. A good fight but I do not enjoy the taste.
  11. Im way down South Speci, in Guernsey, longer season and more chance maybe, what dyou think?
  12. What about the time of year boys,is it too late now? also what type of bottom am I likely to be most successful over?
  13. Hello guys, whos goingnto spill the beans on the secrets of bream fishing to me.Its a species Ive never had much luck with, are we now at the best time of year to catch them, what baits/methods work best for you guys?Rubberdob, any feedback greatly appreciated.
  14. It would be good to continue the clean sweep of 2005 ha, ha, ha!!
  15. Hi Fod, we may have to start a Muratti type inter insular competition, meet half way and fish!! Rob.
  16. Fellow Islander, dont go out when its that rough, its not nice anyway,Rob.
  17. Id be interested to know how much and where did you buy from Speci, rubberdob.
  18. Just make sure there are no air bubbles in the vaseline/silicone that you apply between the hull and transducer as this will cause interference or poor signal reception
  19. I use a small scooter battery, its about 60x160x90cms in size,I keep it cable-tied to the inside of my crate and connect it up each time I go out. A battery can easily discharge itself in damp conditions even when everthing is turned off. So far on a full charge my Eagle fishfinder is still working perfectly after 5 trips (nay, expeditions) of 2 to 3 hours, no sweat.I am sure it would go on for a bit longer but will give it a charge just to be sure, so a battery this size would defineatly be good for a full days fishing, rubberdob.( Hope your not un"well" )
  20. Hi Hung, I have an Eagle fishfinder fitted to my F&D with an external transducer bonded to the inside of the hull using silicon, works perfectly with no noticeable loss in performance,Rubberdob
  21. Thanks lads, I really appreciate your feedback. It really seems like everyone has the same concerns initially.I totally agree that safety should be uppermost at all times.I must get on to Amazon to get those books suggested.Once again thanks all,Rubberdob.
  22. Hi everyone,I have to admit I am new to this game but reading about the sport I just felt I had to go for it. I ran various "proper" boats for years but sold my Orkney last year. The idea of my own small totally transportable, put in the garden and forget about it (almost) till I next use it just felt too good a chance to miss. I have only just began using my new Cobra F&D and am still kitting it out but sometimes I have to admit that I do feel a bit vulnerable compared to what I used to run. I would be really interested to hear from more "hardened" yak fishers to find out how far they go out, length of trips and sea conditions that can safely be coped with. Do you initially train to get to know the correct stroke/technique? I want to find out as much as I can. Are we pioneers? Is there some book, a"bible" that anyone can recommend? Ilook forward to any replies,Rub.
  23. Hi Starvin, not sure what the XF model is, but this yak is VERY stable. Im 5.10 and 17st and it copes beautifully very easy to pad, now the fun starts, what kit and extras will I fit. Will post photos when finished, Rub.
