Hello Glenn
As you saw on the tv's The Trawlermen a lot of cod are caught as a by catch, we were catching 4 to 5 boxs of large cod a day at the start of our sole season last year, to have a total zero catch of cod there would have to be a total ban on fishing , including the charter fleet, would that be exceptable?
Acceptable does not come into it old mate if they slam the door on one it will slam on all
-
The way things are going in the yorkshire area the main people affected will be charter boats whose target species are mainly COD. the commercial fleet being mainly doing standy work or fishing for prawns

Todays Times
not read it yet but put it up for others to read

Any one who was netting whitby area wrecks in the late 80's will remember lots of double figure pollack being landed . As there is very little wreck netting done in the area now maybe they are building up in number. Maybe a benefit of reduced effort and decommisioning of boats

I take it that’s a yes then?
All we need now is a generous sponsor? Will put a few feelers out and see what I can do.
Do you know anybody slackline, who would want to send us out to the back of beyond for ten days peace and quite?
I know of prople who would like to send YOU to the back of beyond for a very long time
-
I heard that some of the whitby boats have gone to the prawns to make sure they still have a quota for that job and maintain a track record for prawns
-
I hope not, could you imagine the echo.
Allready been there done that had haddock coaley and cod in 10 to 20 feet of watere while we were docked in trondheim in 2004 if we go i will bring a bag of south bank dizzy pills to keep you in line and if you persist in having a go at me you might get demoted to one of these

Went to that link glenn and sent then an email
I think SBC made an over spend of 28 million on the Marine drive project but we cannot get a survey. When the piers have gone whitby will die as a resort and the mighty SBC will have another medal Spend the money they want to spend on a marina study 200K on the piers

I would like my ashes mixed in with a cubic meter of concrete Cast into a square block and dropped in the middle of an area where trawling is banned If we all did that we might protect some of the nursery areas for the future

pots all over beach at bay paul been away for ten days in Ierland pulled mine out last week glad i did its going to take a good while to settle this lot down
Managed to tear your self away from tthe ale house then

The proposal for an increase in MLS also caused a lot more commercial activity in the area. Netters have been taking as much as they can,
Hi Steve from what gets said on here about commercials they do just that all the time Like farmers they make hay while the sun shines
-
I would imagine that there is certainly fewer. I cannot give you numbers on this one as twenty years ago I was catching fish for a living and therefore did not pay much attention to what was going on in the charter fishing world.
How some things never change? But others do.
Regards.
acoprding to the defra survey done as part of the BMP there are 376 (KNOWN) charter angling boats in ENGLISH WATERS
-
Hay you stop throwing stones old mate, is that not a mobile home I see outside of your house?
I have heard about your sort, just because somebody is a little bit different than yourself and it’s ethnic cleansing regardless of there cultural upbringing.
Regards.
years ago the police used to road block hawsker straits to stop you Bay Men on your bikes invading the peaceful little town (was it you who took the keys out of that patrol car and threw them into the field)
All joking aside mate i will need to make sure every thing is bolted down before they leave on monday night as the whirlwind they make as they charge off normaly drags other peoples possessions with it

The cost of implementing the BMP will be minimal.
If the BMP is implemented, and RSA activity increases as suspected, VAT returns from increased angling expenditure will be many millions.
(Following the recovery of the USA Recreational Striped Bass Fishery between 1981 and 1996 the consequential expenditure increased from $85 million to $560 million over the same period by anglers fishing for striped bass - Current spend by some 4440,000 UK bass anglers is around £10million. A better 'product' in the way of more and bigger bass is expected to increase the number of anglers and the amount each spends quite significantly)
The bmp will work, if implemented as envisaged.
Hi Leon I hope 4440,000 is a typo error if not there will be no bass left to manage

SBC obviously think that regatta day (regardless of the massive problems it brings on the local community) is far more important than a few toilet less anglers.
Why they never stopped the caravaners attending the regatta years ago, is beyond me? Well that’s not completely true, for the same reason that I was not totally shocked when I read of the demolition of the said toilets and the pathetic excuses that where aired in the gazette today.
The charter boat skippers should just go and get there own portaloo, bite the bullet regards who they think should pay, and stand there ground.
Now they have a nice blue and yellow incident truck to keep the drug adicts from discarding old needles and endangering those poor uneducated children
-
Nice idea Slackline. Dont pay any tax, dont send your kids to school, wreck the local graveyard wall, and sell dodgy aftershave and illuminous rist bands and you can have as many toilets as you want despite the fact you'd still rather crap in the open air.
Lets not fprget the dissappearing fuel (5000lts) building site tools, vehicals and you can leave as much litter / sh**e as you like and sbc will clean it all away after you

My sleuth tells Me NESFC members will be angling for tope from Brid next month as part of their research into recreational angling. I expect to get a detailed report from the sleuth
The man had his tope trip today and it was a complete blank. A few mackrel which were duly dispatched for bait what followed was every apparent bite when reeld in was a lobster holding on to the bait none were boated but they had a total of 8 hanging on I wont name the charter boat but is was a large cat 12m? and he was very impressed with its stability and speed and space on deck (that from a man who drives a 60 footer for a living and has done for 30+ years
The word from the skipper was that tope have been scarce this year so far
-
just seen the answer to the portaloo problem
All the charter skippers have to do is park several caravans and transit pickups in the car park and each caravan will grow its own blue loo
Well thats what has happned at the field opposite mount pleasant

How to win an argument by slackline?
In the past an argument would be won by logical and accurate facts being put forward, lengthy discussion and debate, and willingness for compromise on all sides.
That’s a new one on me less? When ever have you abided to your brief but comical statement above?
I always thought that your philosophy on argument was that the long term versus the short term argument is one used by losers.
When the tanks do come rolling down dinner hill, do you think anybody would stand in front of them? This toilet job to me sounds like a job for portaloo? Or do what we do on the otherwise of the harbor, have a toilet on your boat and make sure your down on the boat an hour before you are scheduled to sail.
Still I must say that people like myself (who have a week bladder) don’t half miss the church street toilets being closed.
Next time you have a pop at me baldy i will let your bike tyres down
Come the revolution it may be you who is against the wall with a blindfold

I know what you meant Challenge, but a skipper shoots his nets where he expects to catch fish or where his instruments tell him to catch fish. I would've expected to hear some reasons as to why the catch wasn't as they expected, the wrong trawl, bad ground (mud and stones) etc etc. When I go fishing and the conditions are good and I expect to catch and don't, I usually come up with a reason why, bait, rigs etc etc. There is a well known structure near me that holds / held a head of large Bass. Those Bass have been fished for relentlessly for the last couple of years by recreational anglers, I've seen pictures of 6 Bass from 8 to 14lb, all of which ended up on restaurant / hotel menu's. They don't catch hardly any there now and everybody knows the reason why.
Hi Holmsey
How can they explain the situation with Amity and Fruitful Bough working within a stones throw of each other One fills up and the other starves to death on the same tow, How does a charter skipper explain no fish on a wreck or ground today when there was plenty yesterday??
call for the end of cod fishing
