It sounds like it's related to the population where you fish. If there's plenty of them about you are used to them. If like some areas you hardly ever see them it may put you off. There's one thing for sure you're both there for the same reason, could that be on the plus side? The next time one pops his head up and the wind backs round to an Easterly think positive!

I think I can remember a article in Sea Angler a few years back on how to get crabs to peel. It recomended you poke their eye out, they said it never failed.
