  3. Was going to go out myself today, but took one look at that cold sea, and took the dogs for a walk to the news agent instead, big breakfast with the sunday papers and a warm fire.I know I am a weak willed man .terry
  4. hI THERE, floatation suits are a big NO, they are cut for standing around and not for sitting in or on a kayak, even the breathable ones would be know good. Re your kit, its important that you try it on 1st before buying, there are a number of places near you that sale gear. remember you need movement in a kayak.terry
  5. chuggs if you are planning a trip please count me in, maybe we can sort something at the meeting next week, terry

  7. Chuggs the boots will look with a old pair of bell bottoms I keep back for that odd 70,s day. much better then platforms terry.
  8. richi liked the boots so much I ordered a pair 28 pounds including postage can,t be bad. Looking at dry suits with that pee zig, I had a hell of a time I remember getting taken short when wearing a dry suit without . terry
  9. Chuggs like the boots, can be used for wading to, very good. As to dry suits, can we sum it up by saying that they are good if made of a gore-tex type material. Not PVC, and better if they have a pee zip and socks. Looking forward to the evening next week, terry
  10. Hi specman, years ago I did some sailing and used a dry suit then, I have the dry pants and tops but want to go out all weather, well almost all weather, and seeing that I have split my trousers I was thinking that this would be a good time to update. I realy want something a bit harder wearing then the paddle trousers, any ideas on make. terry
  11. Thanks for that, I did read this section, but I am just thinking about buying one, and its a long time ago sence I had to wear one and things have moved on so much in this area. Anyone else wear one, have any feelings. terry
  12. Hi all you out there, information needed. How many of yo use dry suits, and how do you get on with it, would be interested to know, terry
  13. The taper is a key part to the cast, for sure. But there are so many factors in fly casting. Just buy a good line and take care of it. I have spend hours in the park casting at a peg, sometimes I can get it right time after time, other times forget it . thats one reason for getting a kayak, it allows me to get closer to the fish . terry
  14. Hi there, it all depends on what you wish the line to do, and what leader, fly, you use etc. If its weight for-ward or a shooting head then you will be able to use this line to get a further cast. But remember you don,t need to cast that far from a kayak. I try to use a shooting line and a heavy fly with a good leader, this helps me. I have used air flo lines and they work for me. Just remember to look after the line and wash after use. terry
  15. So How many Essex boys are there, and what number from Devon and surounding area. It sounds all good fun and just what is needed to start the season. terry
  16. Musket O you are so right, their after sales service is total S==T. I spend a lot of time on the phone with these people over my P13. They just think its a joke. terry
  17. Hi well done for finding the forum, interesting reading, it sure is odd and even our friends across the pond don,t see the need for the thing, maybe a hull to far .terry
  18. Hi thanks for reply< terry
  19. Hi after trying to get mine on and off a high 4x4 and almost taking of a door mirror a few times with the 2 person kayak I have ordered a side loading rack from the US. It as mixed reviews but worth a try. If it works I will have a set of Thule roof bar kayak pads up for sale. will know in a week or so, terry
  20. If I am in the UK count me in, sounds a great idea. terry
  21. Bill its a bit that way, maybe in a nice green and brown DZ pattern, I just can,t see the point in it, well the two points, the site I got the pic from did not give any more details of what one would use it for and any sizes, all very odd but thats the yanks for you. terry
  22. Question, whats a MAC van ???????????????????????
  23. Just look at this, is it a step to far, or the way forward. I know that twin hulls are better if you get sea sick but is there a point to this, what do you think. terry
  24. THANKS TO THE ABOVE, I like the look of all the above and will have a go at tying a few. I have also been hitting the amazon book site and have three books on saltwater flie patterns on order so will be tying flies over the next few weeks ( better then watching the rubbish on the box) All I need now is some good weather and a few fish to catch and thats my fishing year complete terry
  25. Good idea, I always like to look at the USA sites, but you must remember that they do have better fishing/weather/ and a lot more time then most of us this side of the pond. But I don,t understand why you have two web sites when you are talking about pulling all the info into one large one. Best of luck terry
