  1. I have the c-tug too, I found that I get better steering and it never comes off after deciding to try pushing the yak instead of pulling.. call it the c-push instead. Put it on a 3 feet (or wherever it suits the yak) or so from the front, because that hull is tapered the straps wont budge as its constantly held tight by being pushed. Does that make sense.
  2. This is sounding more and more convincing to me now, using a copper pipe, indeed. Brilliant! I have some 10mm pipe lying around somewhere too.... copper pipe technique sounds like it wont be topped... ?
  3. Thanks lads, thought I was mad for a minute. And there's you 'old hands' already been there done that. Good to know I'm not the only spendthrift here. I like both ideas, 'spoon or mdf' I'm a chippy by trade but it didnt occur to me to use mdf.
  4. Aye the bag is good value, and the split paddle is a definite. Been looking for one like that to stow for emergencies for a while, though I dont intend to lose my main.
  5. I checked the net for ideas and can only find sites selling moulds for making them. They are quite expensive for the amount of use I'm going to give them. I have a few kilo's of lead not used on a recent roof repair, and I wondered if I could create a few moulds myself to make use of the lead. Anyone else tried this, or know of a way to make moulds. I imagine it would have to be made from steel, I assume lead would have a lower melting point to steel ect. I guess the mould wouldnt need to be 'perfect' as some minor filing of the cast weight is easy enough to do. I've drawn up a few sketches, shapes, wire positions in the mould ect. Would pressing a lead weight into wet sand, laying the wire into the indentation and pouring the lead work?? I seem to remember some guy on the history channel doing a similar thing a while back.... obviously I would observe all common sense safety measures. just an afternoon daydream is all it is at the moment.. or am I just loony thinking I can get away with not forking out for the retail moulds?
  6. Not sure about using an inflatable, would think that hook or lure would snag very easily, wouldnt like to be on the water with a leaky inflatable . Lidl have some inflatables coming up for next thursday, here http://www.lidl.co.uk/uk/home.nsf/pages/c....P8A2MBU01RUP4OD Saying that though, 350 squid for an inflatable seems daft, when you could pick up a second hand rigid SOT or even new. Sometimes a bargain comes up on ebay or some of the better suppliers have demo yaks up for sale, worth checking methinks.
  7. Oh right, I'm with you. I like the idea of having bare wires to start with, that way you can modify to whatever you like, cool. One more thing, sorry lads... is it essential to add an adequate fuse to the live wire from the battery?
  8. thats sounds hassle free, did the power cable for the finder fit ok onto the battery? or did you have to modify it?
  9. Cool, thanks for the info. Any 12volt battery would suffice then?
  10. Hey lads.. thinking of getting a Eagle cuda 168... wondered about the power options. I understand its going to be a battery but where do I get a good one suitable for the job? I'm wondering if its feasible to use 8xAA, anyone use this sort of solution? thanks in advance.
  11. Marvellous, a nice fat bass would go down very nicely, and as the missus wont eat fish all the more for me. You say there is rough ground to the south end of the beach? do you mention that with respect to launching?
  12. Yeah, thats going to be an issue for sure. Though I'm going to fish 'light' with no clutter, so just one rod and a few lures, no finder(against my religion) or bait box. If the surf is big enough to scare me than I can can always swim out with the yak and then get on behind the waves, does that make sense? at least I know what I want to do, just not sure I've explained it adequately..
  13. *I dont have to sell her, I dont have to sell her... na na naaaa na, na naaa na.
