  1. Thanks alot for the help. Mally Bloodworm is not allowed in this years event. Have you any ideas on what pegs/areas hold the bigger fish ie Barbell? And which pegs/areas am I best targetting the Roach on Hemp? I know the first 5 pegs on the boards are good, but a part from that
  2. As the winner of what used to be the John Smiths qualifier on the Sainforth and Keadby canal. I will be lucky enough to fish the last final of this event. I have a bit of an idea on what to expect (beer and more beer.) But if any of you could give me any more help on tactice etc, I will be happy to buy you a drink out of my £2000 winnings.
  3. Hi Jem First peg after the swan place is a real flyer, fish far bank and cast a small feeder to the left. The disabled pegs are also very good. Because your lad want's to fish the pole, I would recommend fishing at about 11m. This is because 13m is just a bit short for the far shelf, and is nearer to the middle. You still catch a few fish down the middle but the boats make it harder. As for methods chopped worm and caster works well, as does feeding little and offten with maggot and castes (6to 8 of each every cast) Let me know when you are going and i will try and pop down to see how you are doing.
  4. Our club has had a similar argument. We have always kept one of the best lengths of the canal free for plesure fishing. This length holds a lot of fish, easy to get to and is in fact a dream. But all this year I don't think there will have been more than 50 people fishing this stretch. So we started to use it, why keep it free when it's costing money and not been used. I think on most places bait bans are the same for match and pleasure anglers. I do agree each to his own, but I can imagine the pleasure you must be getting hauling all those carp out of a pudlle that will eat anythink you put in front of them. Me well, I will have do do with 15lb of roach and skimmers from a difficult venue. Those who can match fish those who can't, spend £5 a day on a over stocked pond!!
  5. Hi Jem I fish this canal alot, both pleasure and match fishing, as I only live in Thorne. Tell me which stretch you are wanting to try and I will help you with pgegs methods etc. Day tickets are £2.50
  6. The Stainforth and Keadby cannal that is controlled by both Stainforth and Thorne fishing clubs is open all year round.

  12. I have just been given 2 books from the above series. I was just wondering if these books are worth much, as I am thinking of trying to get hold of some more? Is there one in the series that I should look out for?
