  1. that looks like a decent paddle! I ordered a £35 one with my yak just cos I know I'll snap it within a few months if I get the urge to play in the waves & start digging it into the beach to turn back out etc. Hopefully my new Angling yak will calm me down & I wont be able to keep the "mad yakka" tag, LOL Do you have any info on the paddle Richi ? Just watched a Kayak Fishing DVD and got loads of info about paddles and the differences. I'll post a back thread too for us dodgies
  2. Me & Bill go back a bit with regards to "my site" & that last post is a just what I wanted to hear! 10 months of daily tweaking in a site then to be told you "popped up" is likely to hit a nerve, especially after the week I've had. and especially after watching the Toon just beat a hearty SOTON side with 8 cans of LCL & a btl of red (to Rich - Thanks for the call, I've been editing & hacking PHP files all week, as well as creating my own site theme including the stylesheet which I'm quite proud of) do ring back as I've got loads to say It's not about who was here first or who started whatever, it's about sharing info & helping out. If we all stick together in the UK & help put Kayak Fishing on the map then we'll have a good place to be. KFUK was put up cos there was nowhere for ppl to post and the two forums co-incided unfortunately & I paid for the site hosting etc so may as well go for it now. I can't speak for others but all I wanted was a place for us to post in the UK & now there's two so lets get on & put UK Kayak Fishing on the map. Bill your aareet
  3. I'm surprised you got hold of such a book Richi, I bet the local boat lads won't be liking that, LOL Whoever wrote it must be a very brave man giving away all those wrecks. Unless of course it's merely a historical book I'd love one for the river Tyne area if anyone wants to write it
  4. Thanks for the message Alfio, this sounds very interesting I doubt I'll be able to get out there but it won't be given up on I'll have a look at your account and see whats up then get back to you, ok
  5. Yes it's a gr8 looking yak the new P13 and the colours are awesome too! I've gone for something different in the Perception Caster, I got my eye on it last year in a catalogue but couldn't find it in the UK so I nearly went for the new P13 or the Perception Freedom but got news that the Caster is in the UK & seeing as Brighton Canoes (Bournemouth Canoes- same company) had the gr8 offer on of 12.5% off until the 18th and included a few goodies in the package I went for my original choice of the Caster. If all goes well I should have it by next week & I'll post some pics as soon as I get it. Richi did you sell the Caper ? you should have no trouble getting rid of it! I'm debating wether or not to sell my little Scooter as it's gr8 in the waves and to play out on, LOL I'm working on the principal that if I just leave it down the bottom of the garden long enough, Janet will forget it's there 'til the Casters paid off my card I could keep it for my son to paddle at the Lakes when we go camping but he's only 8 and just learning to swim. Still if its an excuse to keep my toy then it's worth it
  6. Hi lads, its total coincidence me getting in here now after fixing the site but..... I'm a very outgoing & easy going bloke & very open minded but feel I must comment on the info posted by Y.Y above as I certainly don't see things as they seem to have appeared & as described. I came into AN last April to try & broaden the horizons of my popular North East Angling site and to pay for advertising for it which I did. While I was in the site I found a thread in the Sea Angling forums here about "kayak fishing" and was amazed that others shared my enthusiasm & didn't think I was mental in any way as I'd been doing it for ages! I posted as such & it went from there. As the interest grew, I saw the potential for our own "yak fishing site" in the UK so set about putting it up as there was nowhere for me to post except the US sites & the sea angling forums here. I registered the KFUK site on May 10th 2005 (or there abouts) then posted in the new "kayak fishing forum " here that I was going to set a site up & about four days l8r the forum had it's own domain name (kayak-fishing.co.uk) linked to it. Now I'm not selfish or bitter & am quite willing to share the net 'cos to me thats what it's about, "sharing information" but to say we "popped up" is degrading. To say the site is run by me (Andy) is quite fair seeing as I do all the background work & am always there right now & Ray works so many hours nightshift but we run it together (could use a hand though). I'm surprised at your reaction Bill given the PM I sent you. We've got ads to this forum plastered all over the site, RSS feeds are set up but need a scrolling layer inserted to save space otherwise you'd have a direct link to here from our home page! are willing to help in any way we can & all we get is "they popped up". I'll go deeper if needed but don't want too & just want to promote the sport. Richi, your very much like me m8, I like to play a bit & choosing a yak to suit both fishing & surfing is a no goer I'm afraid. I've got a Perception Scooter which I could add rod holders too but the rear storage is minimal anyway, poor for snorkelling gear too but gr8 in the waves & surprisingly manouverable in surf! I'd go with a Caper 2nd hand if I were you as an allrounder but I recall you buying a P13 so maybe you've decided to leave the waves alone like me,
  7. sorry lads, I've had a week of nightmares with the site but it's fixed now thankfully! the problem was down to stat logging in the site & the site was recording like "the world" on the hosts server in files so big that the site wouldn't load but like I say it's fixed now & mmaybe I can venture out now, LOL
  8. It looks like the server has collapsed or done a runner as the sites been off all afternoon sorry about that but just want to make it clear that this time its not my fault, LOL

    Cod?

I was hoping to wet my Scooter today for the first time in months just to get out and excercise a bit and paddle to get ready for the warmer months but although the weather was mild with no wind or rain it was still bitterly cold and too risky to go out alone IMO. The seas just dropped off after a recent "lump on" and sitting playing on the XBOX 360 took presidence Not many decent Cod to report at all in the NE of England
  10. Sorry Garry I added a new user field. I've edited your account to fix it so have a go again. I e-mailed you last week without reply so maybe its AOL ? I'll send another e-mail to be sure, thanks for posting but PM me or e-mail meor Ray as it's not nice using someone elses forums to chat about it in
  11. Sorry about that last post, I'd finished off the last of the vino tinto after a stressful weekend, LOL Thanks for pointing that out Speciman it seems I'd included the http: // in my link when there's one already in, I really should know better than to post/edit when pi**sed Well done Spanner the pics were great, the sea was too choppy here to get out & I was full of cold anyway.
  12. Thanks for that ollie, I must admit that I hadn't seen all them views of the (freedom) kayak & am put off by the shape of the "hold" area. I think the Prowler has a better design. Looking at the pics there it looks like it's been shaped to lay a diving "oxygen cylinder" on the long narrow bit and the two different parts in one could maybe cause problems. Time to research it myself I think
  13. Excellent, thanks for the results David, I'm too blooted to reply right now but shirley this will come back, LOL
  14. Hi everyone, it's nice to bew back in here at last I'm going to get that new yak soon that I mentioned last Autumn & have got my eye on the Freedom. It just looks the part for me and in yellow is brilliant. No helicopter would miss that in an emergency, LOL I just wondered if anyone has one yet, what it's like and how it handles etc. I'm in the process of transferring a card balance to a new one so will have the possibility of spending on the one thing most important to me this year Brighton Canoes have offered me a trial paddle of one but the mileage is just too much for that so I need some info on it fast. I have seen the Perception Caster but I don't think it's available over here or maybe it's just another name for the Freedom in the USA ? Any info is appreciated thanks, Andy
  15. The post has to have some text in or the pic won't post so type a bit info. Once you've typed the message. Hit ENTER to make sure the pic goes under the text then go down to the "file attachments" section and a BROWSE button. click the browse btn to find the pic on ya PC (after editing & compressing it to around 40 kilobyes preferably) now click on "add reply" and it should post. A good tip is to not use BMP files as most forums don't allow it due to the large file size of them. .JPG and .GIF are the best two commonly used file types. Here's a pic of the yak I want as a test (drool, drool) I hope that helps ps: the image post option and other goodies are only available in the "post reply" option. The "quick reply is meant for just a quick text reply but clicking on "preview" is a way to bring up all the goodies options in quick reply
