  1. hi folks, i wonder if someone can help me? i lost a good few fish last year (mostly tench) while feeder fishing for good gravel pit bream on the quiver as the fish picked up the bait and moved directy away from the bank - this caused hooklink failure as my line was clipped into the spool to ensure casting accuracy. My question is how do i maintain accuracy in casting and yet still hang onto a strong fish that runs directly away from me?....this may seem daft question but I'll ask it anyway.. thanks in advance andy
  2. hi folks, just thought i'd chuck my two penn'orth in.. i remember an excellent article by keith arthur in IYCF a couple of years ago...about fishing the thames here. IIRC he said dropping tide was best for "bits" while an incoming tide was best if fishing for carp. At Richmond, of course, It's semi-tidal...only fully tidal below richmond lock there have been some very good fish caught above and below richmod lock - despite the fish kill that made all the headlines. good luck.....perhpas you'll tell us how you get on? brgds <')Andy<
  3. >>then spend 2 days in Cisco OfficeBenfort lakes( I can misspell)<< could this be Bedfont Lakes? - an IM Business Park very close to Heathrow. with more notice we could show you quite a lot in west london.. maybe next time rgds <')Andy<
  4. eric, why worry about flying?...unless you're in the USA.. i live in west london and it takes me half a day to drive to holland...i use the channel tunnel and if i leave at 0600 i'm well into holland early afternoon you'll need a car to take your gear anyway.......pack a bike on the back too...holland's great for cycling. you'll never look back...such a civilised country......... goede reise <')Andy<
  5. hi folks, i've occasionally noticed pike taking static boillies (pop-ups too sometimes) and always assumed that the boillie has attarcted the attentions of small coarse fish....they fuss around it and along comes the pike trying to scoop 'em up and hey presto...one esox lucius on a boillie.... that's my view anyway.. <')Andy<
  6. Hi Jerry, one of the differencies I notice is the small ammount of maggots dutch anglers use when fishing even large canals......a typical UK angler will take many many pints compared with a half cup full for a Dutch visser! Given the size of some of your Dutch fisheries this surprises me... <')Andy<
  7. hi folks, does anybody here know anything about the fishing (stock and access rights) in hinksey park lake in oxford? my very earliest fishing memories are of my father landing a small perch from here way back in '54 and it made a powerful impression on me. My father is very old now and infirm and i would quite like to go back and try my hand again after all these years.... I understand parking is quite restricted.. thanks in advance <')Andy< (west london)
  8. hi folks, just thought i'd chuck my two penn'orth in..... i guess that repeat captures in rivers - or lakes for that matter - aren't that surprising really. the pike was hungry, attempted to feed (on your bait), expended energy in the fight and still had no food intake....hence repeat capture. even great care must be taken when returning fish under these curcumstances. fish will nearly always be found in the "comfort zone" as jim gibbinson wrote! tight lines all <')Andy<

  12. I have taken many angling holidays in Holland (mastly for carp) but on a recent triip the guy in the tackle shop was telling me that lures (kunstaaas) are the preferred method particularly in the drains between the fields in the countryside.....pike here get so fat that they can't even turn round in the narrow drain! I suppose that there aren't large shoals of bream and roach in these waters so the pike survive on ducks, rats, frogs etc..... and thus surface poppers or other lures are so effective. I have tried one ort two half hearted deadbait sessions without sucess in Holland and I usually invest my time in the consistent carp fishing. I really will have to get my act together and apply myself one of these trips... tight lines <')Andy<
  13. Jerry from what i hear when i'm fishing in holland using deadbait isn't very common/popular...why is this? brgds <')Andy<
  14. hi jerry this my first ever post to Angler's Net (trying my best nederlands here) dank u wel for the dutch fishing report.....some cracking snoek you got there.... from the bigger fish - what percentage would you say are caught on zeevis, freshwater dodvis and kunstaas? dank u wel <')Andy<
