  1. I just won an auction for an Okuma Sheffield on Ebay for £92. I'll let you all know what I think when it arrives!
  2. Has anyone had a try with the Okuma Sheffield Centrepin? It looks good, but are looks deceiving?
  3. £30 incl p&P? - more than you'd get on Ebay
  4. I've got the Nash Space Shuttle 3 rod quiver - absolutely fantastic - top protection for reels as well as your rods!
  5. I was conned big time once. I was getting into my car in the local multi-storey car park, when two beautiful young women appeared from nowhere and started claening my windscreen. I appologised, saying I had no money. They said that was OK, and that I could give them a lift home instead. On the way, they both removed their clothes, and started to perform sexual acts on each other . Before I knew it, one of them started on me. I was getting rather excited, when suddenly the other one grabbed my wallet, and they both jumped from the car and ran away. I reported it to the police, who informed me that this was the latest scam - apparently women are working in pairs in the local car parks. I was caught last week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
  6. I've been trying for 15 years!! She even sold all my fishing gear once!
  7. Can anyone tell me where I can find myself a young attractive nymphomaniac (female!!) whose other passion is angling? My wife throws a wobbly every time I mention fishing. I've just about had enough!
  8. I'm on the look out for a nice and light, easy to errect shelter, prefereably one that packs away quite small. I was thinking about the Korum Day Seesion Shelter, but everyone I've asked has told me to steer well clear of it. Has anyone here got a Fox Stalker Shelter or the Evolution Plus? If so, how easy is it to errect, how stable i sit and how small does it pack away?
  9. Triploid trout (or any other fish) are created by taking the egg & milt from a normal male / female trout, and after mixing they are heat treated. The emryo then develops into an apparently normal fish, which is unable to breed. I'm not convinced this equates to gentic modification - its simply a case of heat affecting the developing emryo, rather than selective breeding. The whole idea behind triploids is that instead of wasting valuable resources growing eggs, all of the fishes energy goes into producing body mass.
  10. I've been looking at the new Airflo Ridge lines that have just appeared in the shops. has anyone tried one? If so, what are your opinions? Does it really improve your distance, or is it yet another gimic?

  12. Another thing - if you cross lines with of them, whatever you do, don't give any slack line, allowing him to pull your rig under the boat and up to his side - he won't untangle you, he'll just cut your line and let your rig sink to the bottom. f**king stinking arrogant gits. They were all drinking beer too, which I totally dissagree with when afloat. The guys I was with said last time they got there early and got their rod tips tied on before the "Twist and Shouts", and when they came back in the morning, the cheekly gits had moved them and put their own rods in their place. At first they refused to move, but when one of our lot calmly suggested he'd tear their heads off and sh*t down the holes, he finally moved. I enjoyed my night out , but fishing the next day was ruined by these fat drunk stinking arrogant people (apart from that, I suppose they were OK).
  13. Nothing apart from a laod of fat germans. I spent more time untangling lines than actually fishing! There were a few nice cod landed up to ablout 12 lbs.
  14. I went boat fishing yesterday from an Island in Germany, just below Denmark. I could believe what I saw - the night before, the Germans went aboard and tied their rod tips to the rails on the boat, to reserve all the best places for the next day. And I thought the beacj towel thing was bad enough. I suppose the good thing is that none of the rod tips were stolen during the night - not like the UK! We drift fished, each time skipper alternating which side of the boat faced the direction of travel. Of course, all us Brits took our turn having our line go under the boat, but Germans being Germans kept swapping sides and casting over everyones line. What a bunch of arrogant rude tw*ats.
  15. I get the impression that one or two of those on this thread are serving or ex serving members of the armed forces. I'm one of those too. In my job, I've investigated loads of cases of climatic illness (hot & cold climates), some fatal, but most just debilitating. With many of the cold related injuries, I have found that the casualty was lulled into a false sense of security because he was wearing the latest Gucci kit. For example, one individual bought himself some goretex / thinsulte lined boots, and went on patrol on the South Armagh border. He was the only one out of twelve on the same patrol who lost two toes from frostbite. The others had bog-standard Army issue boots, but relied on common sense rules instead of their kit to stay healthy. Doing your immersion test sounds like a good idea to me, especially under controlled conditions with a friend. at least you'll be prepared for it when it happens for real!
  16. does anyone know if the Lincoln Castle Sea Anglers Club still exists? I used to live near Barton On Humber when I was a kid, and I was a member of the local sea fishing club (Lincoln Castle SAC). are any of you lot ex-members?
  17. in that case, I'll stop at two - don'yt want to be the one who gets blamed for its extinction!
  18. I've just picked up a 444SL Ghost tip line for £35 - I'll be giving it a try soon.
  19. I'm going boat fishing out of Port Burg, on Fehmarn Islan, North Germany on Friday / Saturday. I've been advised that the ONLY tactic to use is the pilk (pirk, as we say), but i was contemplating a big bit of squid, or even a rubber eel. Can anyone advise me on how to fish it / what rod rating etc to use?
  20. can anyone direct me towards a second hand Fishing Yak dealer?
  21. You could have a look for a pair of neoprene "Flats Boots" - as worn by saltwater fly fishermen. Most come with an adjustable velcro strap on the ankle to keep the water out. Even if you do get water inside, your feet will stay warm.
  22. I'm sure you'll agree that it takes a very brave (or stupid) person to shark fish from a kayak! Mind you, I'd recommend the DVD to everyone here - although it was only 40 mins long, i really enjoyed it.
  23. I must admit - we (my wife and I) cringed when the guy had the trebble stuck in his chin. I cringed because he dropped his rod and lost it, with a shark attached, and my wife cringed when he tried in vain to cut the hook - in the end he pulled it out with a pair of pliars, and then carried on fishing!
  24. i've just watched a DVD I bought on Ebay - would you believe a bunch of crazy Americans made a film of themselves catching Thresher Sharks from their kayaks off Malibu!!!??? It didn't last very long (40 mins), but I couldn't believe what I saw - one of them was hauling a thrashing thresher onto his lap, by grabbing its tail and holding on for dear life. Meanwhile, he had his foot in the water, about 6 inches from its head. An even more bizarre part shows a Yak being towed at full speed acrosss someone elses line, the end result of which was the line, and big rapala being dragged across the man, who ended up with a trebble hook in his chin! great entertainment!
  25. Here goes - no doubt I'll get loads of stick for this one! The recent vote in the House of Commons has got many people up in arms (including many of my friends). Personally, I have no objections to carrying an ID card. Because of my job, I have had to carry one absolutely everywhere I go for the last 20 years. In my humble opinion, if you're an illegal immigrant, a benefit fraudster or anyone with a dodgy background, then you should be worried. If you're a law obiding honest citizen, then you should carry one. What i REALLY object to is the thought that after being ordered to carry one (to which, as I've already stated, I don't object), we may be ordered to PAY for the priveledge!! Why can't everyone be given an initial issue free of charge. If you lose it, THEN you should pay for a new one. My work ID card is free, but if I lose it, I'd be fined in excess of £150, but it'd still be replaced free of charge. ID cards could carry such info as medical conditions and allergies - imagine someone collapses on the bus - the paramedic could swipe his / her card and be told instsntly that the casualty is diabetic. I also believe the police should stop as many people as possible and ask to see the ID card. So what if someone's ID card sys "paedophile" (for example) - maybe it'd help prevent serious crime. I know that many of you will disagree with my views, but I fully support the idea of an ID card! One more thing - I live in Germany at the moment, and I've noticed when flying back the the UK, taht the germans use their ID cards (yes, they have them here) instead of a passport. One less thing to remember before you leave for the airport!!
