Tahnks everyone for your help. Im not generally that strapped for cash as i sell cans in school (dont tell the teachers) and dont spend any money for 3 months when i dont go fishing. I think im going tobuy a rig bag becasue i like to have everythin neat and tidy!

I had got up early in the morning on a quite cold saturday morning about 3quarters of the way through summer. Me and a friend had been dropped off at the lake at about 7 o'clock by by father and i was optomistic about catching a few decent bream (about 2lb) because i had been doing in regulary after school for some weeks. What i had learnt about bream is that they have very good eyes and they will only take if they cant see the hook. So i had been advised to use a size 18 hook and 4lb line on my reel (abit strong i no, but it saved me as you will hear later). For bait i was using sum bread squashed onto my hook, and i was fishing right at the bottom, behind some lilly pads on my favourite peg where i had previously been successful. After baiting upmy swin with about 5 loafs of squashed bread i was ready for the off. Didnt get any bites until about half an hour in but i never even thought about getting bore as i knew anything can happen when fishing for bream.When the bites started coming i was optimistic of a bream but out popped a roach, quite small in size but was battling away. First fish of the day then and plenty more to come (i hoped). It went quite after that for a few hours but i was always on my guard as i kept getting little bites on my float. After about 2 hours i was feeling downhearted that nothing was going to take my bait, until my float shot away under the water. i struck the fish and thought that it was a bream that was just going to roll over and come in. (how wrong was i). Then i thought that it was a big crucian carp fiteing its wayabout. 5 minutes late still pulling through the water going up and dwon, but still no where near the top, until suddenly a golden orange shadow appeared and i realised i had hook into a ghost carp. As i was attempting to land it all that was going through my mid was the size of my hook and the strengh of my line. i was sure i was going to snap until it rolled over on top of the water and i immeiately brought it to the landing net. My 5th carpever and all on gear that i thought wouldnt hold a 5 carp! later on i weighed the fish and it was 10 pounds, i was estatic! After that my day was complete and i fished on for a while longer but the carp had destroyed my swim but i was satisfied with my days work and went home. Went at 7 home for 11 and another carp in the bag, what a day! what are your fishing achievements, this was ine wanted to make it into like a story of events to mak it more interesting. i will oput the picture of the carp under neath because its not letting me put it on here.

i have yet to catch a big roach .the best i have had up to now a abouto.5 lb roach but on that date i caught 32 fish with roaches and perches abit smaller than that and a 2lb commom carp on double red maggot

everybody keeps saying theres only 2weeks till the end of season. after that are you not allowed to fish anymore or something? Or do anglers stop fising until june. i hope someone could clear me up on this because i am confused!

Why does everbody go on as if fishing season stops in 2 weeks, You are still allowed to fish arent you and its better i think then in november to february. So dont get so down hearted!

[i dont see it as a season finishing, i see it has a season beginning because i dont go fishing between november and march. I usually start catching easily in may, and can have good days in april to.

Hello, when i usually plumb the depth i do it so you can only see the top bit of the float (the bit that is a different colour) so that i am just off the bottom. is the the correct was to do it and if not how much of the very top tip of the float should be under water?

thanks for your comments. i also run my line through my fingers at the end of the session. As for the tying the hook part, im not just saying it but when i tie my hook on it never snaps off. this is the gods honest truth but it never is usually snaps (if it does) around 2 feet away from the hook.

thanks everbody for your comments.i will take your advice and kneel next time i have a picture with a fish. also i am going to pre bait my swim for two days before i go fishing just as a trial run. Finally my favourite type of spam is nice n spicey. thanks, jamie

14 and half lb mate onli my 2nd carp

14 and a half pound carp but that wasnt stalking that was on ledger. (u can see that picture on my 'spam' topic afew pages down) i haven't yet caught a carp stalking, ive had two on but both of them after about 5minutes got off. but i keep on trying though. the lake that they are on in the summer is full of about 10lbs on top but because that many people stalk them they get very wary. wots your biggest fish to date?
