A wet, drizzley morning, but that was ok because I got my pb goldie at 97 cm and a guess at 16 kg on a pilchard. Had to climb down a wet granite wall to measure it and cut the Line. Well worth getting wet through!

Queensland, as far as I know, is the only place on the planet where 2 rivers join to make 1 creek; the Georgina and the Thompson rivers make Coopers Creek. And, for a few years, are dry.

Covid-19 rules when going from Queensland to the Northern Territory need 1 sheet of paper with name, destination and list of illnesses. Rules from Northern Territory back to Qld need. 2 sheets of paper, same thing on both?!!?

My ‘daughter’ and her son were out in the semi desert of western Queensland, looking for amethysts. Katie tripped over a stone and broke 4 bones in an ankle. They drove to the Cloncurry hospital and the senior Dr. did what he could, but katie needed An op and the nearest major hospital is in Townsville, some 1000 km away, so it was decided to fly her there. But...she needed an escort, so her other son, who lives inT’ville, flew over and the ambulance took her to the Cloncurry airport. The airline would not allow her on board because the Cloncurry hospital forgot to buy a ticket. It transpires that the earliest Katie can fly, is next Monday...
What makes it worse is that every time she has been to Cloncurry, something bad has happened. First was a breakdown in her 4wd and a 3 week wait for spares, 2nd was a roll over In the desert and the police had to rescue them, then she broke her ankle and now, the hospital forgot to buy a plane ticket.
I was to meet them on Friday, a 2 day drive away...Still, I can meet her son and we can look for amethysts together.
PS, As she never had a father, he left the home before she was born, she looks to me as her dear old Dad.

I have 2 fish photos that are used by Museums Victoria for reference purposes, a trevally and a scad. The senior ichthyologist asked if the Museum could have a copy of one.

Life just gets better as you get older, doesn’t it?
I was in a coffee shop recently when my stomach started rumbling and I realised that I desperately needed to fart. The place was packed but the music was really loud so, to get relief and reduce embarrassment, I timed my farts to the beat of the music. After a couple of songs I started to feel much better.I finished my coffee and noticed that everyone was staring at me.
Then I suddenly remembered that I was listening to my IPod..This is what happens when senior citizens use technology!

Got a knock on the door and a young woman asked if I was Bob.After replying that I am that person, she told me that she had some dunny fodder for me...What???
turned out it was my "daughter" who asked on Facebook if anyone in my area could send me some rolls...Katie lives a thousand km from me and was worried I would not get any from Mackay...The young lady and I had a good giggle and then she handed me 4 rolls.

No, mate, it is the Record 60. Had to check, as it has been “put out to pasture” and I thought it might have been my ABU Rocket. But the Rocket has not got a level wind.

Have to wade in on this thread...Ugly sticks are good, however, for my money the Daiwa Heartland takes a lot of beating. I fish mainly for barramundi, be it in a river, dam, or sea and my heartland, at 5.6ft coupled to an ABU Record, or an ABU Ambassadeur 5600c4 has taken many big fish. Most of my fishing has been with lures, from small 10 gram metals to 6" barrabait lures and softies.
Most fish have been caught within 30 metres, so, why use 160 gram 'sinkers'?
And, yes, same rod, 10 years apart...

Very much so in SE Australia, targetting murray cod and yellowbelly, the 2 main species, though a few old 'die-hards' use yabbies for bait, especially for the yellowbelly. Same in 'The Top End" of the Northern Territory, The Kimberlies and northern Queensland, where the main species is the barramundi. Lures are about 98% of the fishos arsenal, with hardbodies slowly losing out to soft plastics (costs).
