This is a fantastic way to find new waters. However I found myself getting carried away and finding water about 20 miles away. You have to remember that the sat pics were taken a while ago so new waters may have formed or there may be waters hidden by the trees

Well all as Promised I visited Fir Tree Fisheries @ Appley Bridge. There were 5 waters there. The first had a big sign that read "here where the big boys live so you have to be over 18 and have an unhooking mat) I was about to go and start but then noticed that it was actually £10 to fish this pond (as opposed to £6 to fish the other 4) I arrived at 6:30 in the heavy rain and then chose a peg. Within 10 mins I had my first ever common carp (about 1lb) I continued to fish pulling more of these in including a few bream. I then hooked my first ever chub of about 2 1/2lb- CHUFFED. The rain was on and off all day i.e. one minute it was hot enough to get a tan and maybe have a quick dip, next it has hail stoning.............. Anyway finished off at 2:30 and went over to the BIG BOYS lake where I saw a chap land a fish of around 15lb. All in all great place - very clean - nicely laid out. I will return in future but will check other waters out first.

Hi, My seat box is also square legged where the legs sit inside the body. I purchased a footplate off ebay that fits square legs and have had no problems with it as it simply screws on and is fully adjustable. I suggest if you buy one off this guy you pay no more that £10 as postage is a tenner aswell (some people pay up to £50 quid cos he shows it with a pic of a box so people presume I guess..) Hey Jimpy, Thanks for that, I went to my local tackle shop yesterday and purchased a season ticket. £22 for the rest of the year. Some of the waters you mention do not feature in the booklet but I will be sure to find out. Anyone interested in planning a trip please post.........

Thanks for the suggestions, just been on the phone to fir tree farm in applely bridge........I am gonna try it out on saturday. £6 a day ticket, the guy on the phone even said they serve bacon and egg butties on the bank!!!. However I am still lookin for a kinda fishin buddy so anyone local give me a shout!

Jimpy, I live within walking distance of the "red" pond and also "figure eight". I have fished both of these ponds but I was after somewhere better with more fish..............Any suggestions as to where to go on the wigan card? Thanks

Hi Ebay always has seatboxes on there, either new or old. I bought one recently which has square legs. I have been able to find all kinds of additions for the legs such as an umbrella holder, a bait tray and a pole roost. I have also bought a footplate. I reckon all in all I paid just over £100 for the lot (all new!!!) Hope this helps

Hi there all, this is my first ever post on here................. I live in Wigan where (so iM told) there are lots of ponds/lakes etc. My problem is that I dont drive and was wondering if there are other anglers out there that might invite me along? Obviously I would pay for petrol etc...... I think this is an idea that should be adopted by more people in order to help the anglers that are unable to get to the decent ponds and also help the anglers that can get there keep their costs down.
