Two different sizes of Shimano spinning reels. The 4000 is the larger of the two.

The unusual piece you see by the bail is a trigger. It is designed to allow easy 'cocking' of the bail with one hand. You trap the line between the trigger and your index finger then pull it toward the rod. It opens the bail and has you all ready to cast. Excellent for lure fishing where you do lots of casting or at any time you want to keep the other hand free.
