Barbless Hooks Again

There is a lot of sense and nonsense talked about barbed and barbless hooks.

 

At my club water, which due to club rules must remain nameless, the Carp fishing is very, very easy. So easy you can take 30 Carp in an evening session. It's to easy so I don't fish it anymore. But playing fish after fish with barbless did not result in any lost fish, on unhooking the hooks ( sizes 8 to 2's ) just slid out with out leaving torn mouths.

 

So if you are not confident enough to use barbless then try mirco barbs or shut the barb down someway. If your one of those anglers who flap the rod around giving their fish slack line from time to time then get some lessons !

As for those anglers who fish for decent sized fish right up against massive snags, the hook and yank fans, they are not too concerned about the welfare of their quarrey. More about their next picture in the angling press ( holding a pair of lips perhaps ).
