dinsmores sticks are excellent, not the cheapest but they'll last longer than most. as for alarms, the 20 quid fox ones are hard to beat

Unless you've no option, such as fishing concrete banks, I'd recommend againgst a rod pod. They prevent you from pointing all your rods at the bait, which means that the angle created leads to not spotting knocks and even dropped takes. The latter is more likely from the cutest fish, that of course are often the biggest.

As for banksticks, by far the best I've used are from King's Angling. See my recent field test at http://anglers-net.co.uk/reviews/king01.htm If you want stainless I can personally recommend the Badger banksticks that are at least as good if not better than many of the top names, and also extremely reasonably priced. However, stainless banksticks are heavier but do tend to last longer.

Turning to bite alarms, this is what I posted a couple of days ago on the Coarse Forum:

As many of you know I use Good Fishing alarms and highly recommend them. Like Ant I upgraded to the GFs, and this was to get the dual sensitivity, which I do find helpful as it often gives me early warning of a take. The spec is almost identical to the Fox MX, but slightly larger as it uses an inexpensive standard 9v battery.

Good Fishing Alarms are made in the UK and are very reliable. What's more they're exceptional value for money! The GFv with variable tone and volume costs just £12.99!!

have to agree with SB, unless absolutely necessary, concrete banks etc. sod the pod. as steve says single sticks cheaper, more versatile and less to carry, do get yourself a robust screw in type bivvy peg, or screwdriver, to make pilot holes with though. also used the cheapo foxs for a couple of years and for £20 reliable and do what they have to.
