Reepham - Getting the bigguns

Recommended Posts

I know this is going to sound stupid, but I just want a few tips on getting the bigger carp out of 1 of the waters I fish.

The question basically is how to catch the high doubles/20lb+.

Obviously it's unanswerable, but I'm just looking for tips that may keep small fish away.

The lake is quite small (3 acres or so) and has a high stocking of carp. Loads in the 3-6lb range, quite a few doubles, and the odd fish at 20. The lake record is a 28lb ghostie.

No night fishing, dawn to dusk only. The biggest I've had out of there is 12.5lb, and I really would like to get 1 a bit bigger.

So, does anyone have any tips on getting through to the bigger specimens in there.

Thanks, Dan

Dan

dunno how to target the big un's baitwise, as even small carp will take bigger baits, so you cant just increase your boilie size, your best bet is probably to find out where the bigger carp patrol, maybe a bit of stalking is in order, and some watercraft! time to ditch the bedchair and bivvie and start fishing

try spodding a shed load of cheap pellets (layers pellets)then fish your hook baits well away from the bed of bait this seem to pull out the bigger fish, for me anyway :)
