Newbie Fishing

After not fishing since my teens I've hit 40 and thinking of starting again. I sold my tackle years ago which consited of a Mitchell Match and Carbon fibre rod.....

 

Has anyone got any advice on what to buy thesedays....I'm a course fishing type of guy and I don't like the pre-stocked lakes and ponds....much prefer rivers and old lakes and ponds.

It might be good to get a copy of improve your coarse fishing magazine its out every month and its quiet good for the lapsed angler. I don't get it any more as it does get a bit repetitive after you have read a few issues.

I am new to fishing too, but I find these forums very helpful. They are a fountain of information and if you can't find the answer in the old topics you can always post a new question.
