Unhooking eels

Leon, I think you've sorted the experiment before you've even tried. There isn't a single fish I've had on the bank more than trout and if you won't use circles for them for fear of deep-hooking, I definitely don't think they'd be of any help with eels. I reckon eels are gut-hooked far more readily than any trout or perch, both of which I'd say, although known for deep-hooking, don't come close.
