Knock as much as you want, but the fact is that the INTENTIONAL use of an exposed hook is a modern idea aimed specifically at carp fishing.

 

No it isn't. What's a mackerel feather if it isn't an exposed hook? What about lures? They have exposed hooks, do they not? What about using bare hooks on the end of pennel rigs with soft baits for cod and whiting etc. The same could be said for the drop-minnow method and that's older than Moses himself.

 

I'm sorry but to claim that the intentional use of an exposed hook is a modern idea specifically aimed at carp is blinkered and actually wrong.

 

There's a picture of a lure in my signature. Is that or is that not an exposed hook?
