Shimano Aerlex

Rigg'd

Recommended Posts

Been scouting around for some spod&marker reels as you know from my last topic and my dad has paid me £175 from a week job so i can spend some on good reels!

I have seen these shimano aerlex's apparently they are a great robust spodding reel.

Any opinions on these?

P.s im using fox spod and marker rods some opinions on those too :D

cheers!!

I use the Aerlex 7000 reels on both my spod and marker rods and cannot fault them with braid on both but with a nylon shock leader on the spod rod. I also use a soft leather finger stool to ensure I do not skin my finger when spodding. The Aerlex reels have been around a long time, have a good track record and are used by many anglers. I also have more expensive Daiwa emlems but they are no better at doing the job than the Shimanos. It is worth looking on e bay for the Aerlex reels or alternatively the Biomasters which are also excellent. A couple of examples are below
