I am going to be on holiday soon in cornwall, i usually coarse fish but would like to try and catch a mackerel or two. Will a light carp rod, 6lb line and an abu toby spinner work? Thanks

Sure will, going down the south west shortly and will also take a couple of disposable barbeques, a pound of squid, both to eat with the mackerel caught and also to use with a sea float, you would quite easily catch other specis as well, in particular if you plan to fish off the rocks.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

I would up the line strength a bit - they aren't line shy, and you'll lose fewer lures.

 

Agree, up your line to 12 lb, less chance of wind knots and your toby may atract a nice Bass ;)

ok thanks everyone, i only have 6lb or 15lb so will have to go with the 15lb :)
